Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development The department to undertake an oversight visit to Thornveld Farm in Thabazimbi
The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) in Limpopo, will on 2 March 2022, embark on an oversight visit to Thornveld farm (Portion 1 of farm Welgewaagd 233 KB) located in Dwaalboom farming area near Thabazimbi, Waterberg District.
The prime crop production farm, measuring 1 284 hectares, was acquired through the land redistribution programme at a cost of R25 million, and was allocated to smallholder farmers as part of empowering emerging black farmers, to transition to commercial farming, with the aim to contribute meaningfully to the economy, create job opportunities and ensure sustainable food security.
The oversight visit aims to conduct monitoring and evaluation of the operations, optimal utilisation of government resources and the general maintenance of infrastructure, since the beneficiaries have assumed ownership of the property.
