Liev Schreiber checks into a hospital in Los Angeles after suffering a sudden severe headache that worried doctors and fans alike

Liev Schreiber gave everyone around him a fright over the weekend when a sudden, intense headache landed him in the hospital.

What was supposed to be a normal Sunday quickly shifted into a night under medical supervision, with doctors wanting to keep him close just to be safe.

According to reports, the 58-year-old actor was up and moving without difficulty, but the headache itself was concerning enough that his medical team wanted answers.

By Monday, he was still undergoing a long series of tests as doctors tried to figure out what triggered the episode.

As of now, no one has publicly confirmed the cause.

The Actor Stayed Calm, But Questions Remain

People around Liev were reassured by the fact that he was walking around and communicating normally during his stay.

Still, any sudden neurological symptom is taken seriously—especially given his medical history.

DailyMail.com has reached out to his representatives, but so far, the camp around him is keeping quiet.

A Career Spanning From Scream to Prestige TV

Schreiber has been a familiar face in film and television for decades.

Many fans still remember his breakout role in Scream back in 1996.

More recently, he’s been working on The Perfect Couple and Caught Stealing, proving he’s still very much in demand.

The actor, originally from San Francisco, has also been navigating big changes in his personal life—both joyful and emotional—over the past few years.

A Growing Family and Life After His Split With Naomi Watts

Schreiber married Taylor Neisen in the summer of 2023, though the two first met years earlier in 2017.

Their family grew even larger when their daughter, Hazel Bee, arrived in August 2023.

He also has two children, Sasha and Kai, from his long relationship with actress Naomi Watts.

The pair spent more than a decade together before parting ways in 2016 but have remained steady co-parents.

Kai, now 16, publicly came out as transgender earlier this year with the support of both parents.

This Isn’t His First Serious Headache

While this weekend’s hospital stay surprised fans, Schreiber has experienced something similar before — and that time, it was far more dramatic.

Back in 2024, while performing in the Broadway play Doubt: A Parable, he was hit with what he thought was an ordinary headache.

It rapidly turned into something terrifying.

The headache progressed into a neurological episode that left him disoriented, confused, and unable to remember his lines — or even the name of his co-star, Amy Ryan.

A Terrifying Memory Loss Episode on Broadway

During an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Schreiber explained that he had been diagnosed with a rare condition called transient global amnesia.

It’s temporary, but it can be profoundly frightening.

He recalled walking down the backstage stairs thinking something was deeply wrong, and when the blank spots in his memory started expanding, panic set in.

His doctor and his wife arrived looking terrified, which only confirmed his worst fears — he assumed he was having a stroke.

Fortunately, the condition passed just as doctors said it would: within 24 hours.

Despite the reassurance, Schreiber admitted he struggled to believe their calm explanations in the moment.

Keeping an Eye on His Health

Given that ordeal, it’s no surprise that both Liev and his doctors took this new headache seriously enough to warrant a full check-up.

For now, he’s said to be doing well, and those around him are hoping this latest scare turns out to be just that — a scare, nothing more.
