After stepping away from the spotlight to focus on his mental health, Lewis Capaldi made a powerful return—and it’s clear the world missed him.
His brand new track Survive has not only topped the charts but set a new high for his entire music career.
And it all kicked off with one incredibly emotional comeback at Glastonbury.
Glastonbury Comeback Leaves Fans in Tears
The 28-year-old Scottish singer made his long-awaited return to live music at Glastonbury last weekend.
With thousands packed around the Pyramid Stage, Capaldi choked back tears as he told fans he once feared he’d never perform again.
But he was back—and they couldn’t have been more ready for it.
“I won’t say too much or I might start crying,” he told the crowd.
“I just wanted to come and finish what I couldn’t last time.”
And he did just that—singing some of his biggest hits, including Someone You Loved, with fans singing every word right along with him.
Survive Becomes His Biggest-Ever Hit
Just days after that emotional performance, Capaldi released Survive, a raw, heartfelt track reflecting on the past two years.
The result? Instant success. The song rocketed straight to Number 1 in the UK, marking the biggest opening week for any single in 2025 so far.
With over 68,500 units sold—and more than 4 million streams—it even beat his previous best with Forget Me from 2022.
Fans Fuel the Comeback With Pure Love
Overwhelmed by the support, Capaldi shared a heartfelt message with fans:
“Survive is this week’s UK Number 1, and I want to say a massive thank you to everybody who’s been streaming and downloading it. It really means the world.”
He added, “To come back after being away for a while and be met with this outpouring of love—this has honestly been the best week of my life.”
Old Songs Get a Boost Too
Capaldi’s return didn’t just spark love for Survive.
Fans also went back to his earlier work, sending streams of Someone You Loved soaring by 115%, while his 2019 debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent surged 198% in popularity.
It’s a full-circle comeback—old hits, new music, and a fanbase that’s never let go.
Lewis Announces Limited UK and Europe Tour
And he’s not stopping there. Just days after the chart success, Capaldi announced a brand-new tour with 10 dates across the UK and Europe.
Cities include Sheffield, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Nottingham, and two nights at London’s O2 Arena.
He also made it clear: these are the only shows he’ll be doing in the UK, Ireland, and Europe this year.
Presale tickets drop on July 8, with general sale opening on July 10—and judging by the demand, they’re going to go fast.
MK, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lorde Follow Close Behind
While Lewis took the top spot, he wasn’t alone on the charts.
DJ MK’s collaboration Dior came in second, with strong showings from Sabrina Carpenter’s Manchild, Rayvn Lenae’s Love Me Not, and Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan rounding out the Top 5.
Over on the album charts, Lorde scored her first-ever UK Number 1 album with Virgin, beating out Bruce Springsteen, Sabrina Carpenter, and Ed Sheeran.
The New Zealand singer, who performed just hours before Capaldi at Glastonbury, said she was blown away by the support.
“I cannot believe I’ve got Number 1 in the UK,” she said.
“I felt so much love on this record—I can’t wait to see you on tour!”
Capaldi’s Comeback Is More Than Just a Chart Story
From emotional Glastonbury moments to topping the charts and launching a sold-out tour, Lewis Capaldi’s return is more than just a career milestone—it’s a story of resilience, vulnerability, and reconnecting with the fans who’ve loved him all along.
And if this week is anything to go by, Lewis isn’t just surviving—he’s thriving.
