Kid Rock’s recent Bud Light video has caused a stir online since it surfaced. The viral video was made after beer brand Anheuser-Busch made transgender woman Dylan Mulvaney their spokesperson for Bud Light.
In the video, Kid Rock shot cans of Bud Light with a rifle to show his anger towards the company’s endorsement of Mulvaney, and at the end of the video, he said, “fck Bud Light and fck Anheuser-Busch.”
Kid Rock Bud Light Video and Controversy
The famous singer, Kid Rock, expressed his disapproval of Bud Light’s partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney in a new video that quickly went viral.
In the Kid Rock Bud Light video, the singer can be heard exclaiming, “Grandpa is feeling a little frisky today,” before launching into a profanity-laden rant against Bud Light and parent company Anheuser-Busch, seemingly referencing their collaboration with Dylan Mulvaney.
Kid Rock’s anger at Bud Light’s decision to work with Mulvaney, who has more than 10 million followers on TikTok, dressing in a childlike way and promoting the beer company’s March Madness contest offering customers a chance to win $15,000, caused him to shoot Bud Light cans with a rifle in his video.
Kid Rock’s Reaction to Bud Light and Dylan Mulvaney
Kid Rock’s reaction stemmed from the beer company’s decision to partner with Mulvaney, who transitioned from male to female one year ago.
The Kid Rock Bud Light video amassed over 20 million views across all social media platforms. It is not known whether Kid Rock’s anger stems from Mulvaney’s gender transition or Bud Light’s endorsement of the transgender person.
In an Instagram post, Mulvaney said the customized Bud Light cans featuring her face were her most prized possession, and the post’s caption read “#budlightpartner.”
Anheuser-Busch’s Response
Anheuser-Busch replied to the backlash it received, stating that the commemorative cans were a gift to Dylan Mulvaney and were not for sale to the public. The controversy has prompted Bud Light to address the issue of female representation in their marketing.
Does Kid Rock Bud Light video highlight gender inequality?
Many conservatives are slamming the decision, with some saying that the beer maker is pushing “gender propaganda.” The Vice President for the company’s marketing, Alissa Heinerscheid, told Forbes that female representation is a personal passion point of hers.
In the advert for the beer, the company used the wife of Miles Teller, Keleigh, and the actor himself, in what they dubbed a “new era” for Bud Light.
Heinerscheid stated that they began by examining who they are and what they stand for when they considered the task of attracting new drinkers.
It is unclear whether Heinerscheid herself made the decision to feature Mulvaney as the new face of the brand or Marcel Marcondes, the Global Chief Marketing Officer for AB InBev – Bud Light, influenced it. Either way, the decision has sparked controversy and caused division among customers.
