Just when things seemed to be settling down for the Boebert family, another controversy has made headlines—this time involving Congresswoman Lauren Boebert’s eldest son, Tyler.

The 20-year-old is now facing a misdemeanor child abuse charge following an incident involving his own young son, who is also Boebert’s grandson.

What Happened With Tyler and the Child Abuse Citation?

According to police documents obtained from the Windsor Police Department, Tyler Boebert was cited on July 11 for a charge related to criminal negligence—but notably, there were no injuries and no physical harm reported.

Lauren Boebert, known for her outspoken MAGA-aligned politics, addressed the situation in a statement, calling it a simple “miscommunication” around watching her grandson, which unfortunately led to the child somehow getting out of their house.

Boebert Says It Was a “One-Time Incident”

Trying to calm the storm, the Colorado congresswoman described the event as isolated and insisted the family had already spoken with Child Protective Services to review and ensure safety measures are in place.

“Tyler has been doing a great job getting his life on track as a father and citizen,” Boebert said.

“This situation was a misunderstanding about who was watching my grandson.

There was absolutely no injury or physical abuse involved.”

Boebert Became a Grandmother at 36

Tyler welcomed his son in June 2023 when he was still a teenager, making Lauren Boebert a grandmother at the age of 36.

Since then, she’s made public remarks celebrating her role as a young grandma while also backing her son’s effort to become a more responsible adult.

But this latest citation could be a setback, particularly since Tyler is still on probation for previous legal trouble.

Tyler’s Criminal History Isn’t New

This isn’t Tyler’s first brush with the law.

Back in 2024, he faced a whopping 22 charges, tied to a series of vehicle break-ins and property thefts.

Those included four felony counts, including criminal possession of an ID and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Eventually, Tyler struck a plea deal. He pled guilty to one count of attempted identity theft, a lesser class five felony.

The rest of the charges were dropped.

A Judge Once Gave Him a Second Chance

During that court process, Tyler said he couldn’t even afford legal representation.

Despite that, the judge—John F. Neiley—chose a lenient path.

He acknowledged Tyler’s youth and lack of previous criminal history and offered him a chance to clean the slate.

Tyler was told that if he successfully completed two years of probation, he could have the felony removed from his record. But now, that future is uncertain.

Is His Probation in Jeopardy?

Whether this child abuse citation violates the terms of his probation isn’t yet clear.

But the new charge could potentially derail the clean record he was working toward, depending on how the courts and probation officials interpret it.

Past Driving Incident Also Raised Eyebrows

There’s more to Tyler’s history. Back in 2022, a friend of his, Noble D’Amato, alleged that Tyler flipped a vehicle while driving recklessly.

Noble claimed the car crash was so violent it left him injured, and he accused the Boebert family of sweeping the whole incident under the rug.

Tyler only received a careless driving citation, which was later reduced to a minor infraction for defective headlights.

He also had to attend court-ordered driving school.

Tyler Once Reported His Own Father to Police

In another troubling family matter, Tyler called the police on his own father, Jayson Boebert, in 2024.

He accused him of abuse, which led to Jayson’s arrest.

That incident added even more drama to the already headline-grabbing Boebert family dynamics.

Boebert’s Third Term Continues Amid Family Scrutiny

Lauren Boebert is currently serving her third term in Congress, representing Colorado’s Fourth District.

As she juggles her political career, she’s once again dealing with personal family issues spilling into the public spotlight.

This story is still developing, and updates are expected as more details come to light.
