Las Vegas Woman Arrested After Teen Crushed to Death While Skateboarding on Side of Her Car

Las Vegas woman Anais Hernandez has been arrested for her role in the death of Anthony De La Torre, a 15-year-old boy who died after being run over by a car while skateboarding.

The incident occurred in May 2022, when De La Torre fell from the side of the car and was fatally injured.

Hernandez was a passenger in the car at the time, but had switched with Destiny Jimenez, 19, who refused to drive while De La Torre attempted the stunt.

Jimenez was later arrested for reckless driving resulting in death, DUI resulting in death, and driving without a valid driver’s license.

According to reports, De La Torre had asked if he could ride his skateboard while holding on to the outside of the moving car, but Hernandez reportedly told him that the stunt was too dangerous and that she would not drive while he did it.

However, Jimenez then offered to drive and the group switched seats, with Hernandez becoming a passenger.

Jimenez then began driving while De La Torre skated on the outside of the car, leading to the fatal accident.

Hernandez was arrested on Wednesday, following a felony warrant on charges of child abuse/neglect.

Meanwhile, Jimenez had previously been arrested and charged with reckless driving resulting in death, DUI resulting in death, and driving without a valid driver’s license.

She admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana before the incident, and was identified by the family as the teen’s aunt.

The death of Anthony De La Torre has been devastating for his family, with his maternal aunt Lydize Lopez expressing her grief and disbelief.

“It’s hard to wrap my head around that I won’t ever see him again,” Lopez said. “Because of a mistake that somebody made.”
