LAGOS SUSPENDS CAMPING ACTIVITIES AS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT POSTPONES NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL

The intensive and highly structured closed-camping activities put in place by the Lagos State Sports Commission for Team Lagos Athletes in readiness for the 20th National Sports Festival, tagged “EDO 2020”, has been suspended due to the postponement of the games for the third time by the Federal Government.

According to a release issued on Wednesday by the Lagos State Sports Commission, the suspension was necessary due to the postponement of the National Sports Festival by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development till April 8 – 22, 2021.

It added that the Commission deemed it fit to suspend the Athletes’ camping and all activities pertaining to preparations for the National Sports Festival despite the rigorous training that the Team Lagos had embarked on for the past few days.

The statement, however, assured that the Athletes and Coaches, as well as other officials concerned, will be recalled for the continuation of the preparation as soon as necessary, stressing that every member of the team is always ready to take up the task whenever called upon.
