KwaZulu-Natal residents brace for scorching heat and scattered showers as coastal towns like Richards Bay experience temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius

As summer continues to assert itself, KwaZulu-Natal is set to experience a mix of hot temperatures and occasional showers this week.

Coastal cities like Richards Bay are expected to see daytime highs climb above 30°C, bringing the classic summer warmth to the province.

Coastal Heat Dominates the Day

Meteorologist Mpho Rasimphi highlighted that the heat will be the main feature along the coast.

“It is going to be a hot day as we move from Richards Bay,” Rasimphi explained.

Residents can expect sweltering conditions during the daytime, while nights will cool down slightly, particularly in inland areas, creating a clear temperature contrast across the province.

Thunderstorms Hit Other Provinces

While KwaZulu-Natal enjoys mostly sunny skies, other regions of South Africa are not as lucky.

Provinces like the Northern Cape are likely to face severe thunderstorms.

Rasimphi warned of possible disruptions: “We are expecting isolated thunderstorms with strong winds, small hail, and lightning in some areas.

Residents should remain alert and report any dangerous weather conditions.”

Inland Areas Should Stay Prepared

Even though coastal towns will largely avoid severe weather, inland residents should be ready for sudden showers, potential gusts of wind, and moments of reduced visibility.

Planning ahead for travel and outdoor activities is advised to avoid unexpected disruptions.
