Kidnapped Woman Left Brain-Damaged, but Making Progress
A woman who was kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend and left brain-damaged after falling out of a van has made progress and is able to stand for the first time, according to her mother.
Angel Lynn, 21, was kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend, Chay Bowskill, in September 2020 and fell out of a moving van on the A6 in the UK while attempting to escape.
Her parents were told she would not survive but Angel has defied the odds.

Progress in Angel’s Recovery
Angel has defined the odds by being able to stand and started to swallow, and she is communicating more and more, said her mother, Nikki Lynn.
She expressed hope that one day her daughter would speak and tell her what happened.
Angel, who is undergoing rehabilitative treatment, was left paralyzed and unable to eat, walk or talk by herself after the incident.
She has been making progress in recent months, starting to regain movement on her left side and relearning how to swallow.
Kidnapping and Injury
Bowskill had become increasingly threatening as the relationship with Angel neared its end.
Angel attempted to leave him and was kidnapped in Rothley, Leicestershire, by Bowskill and his accomplice Rocco Sansome, in September 2020 after an argument.
CCTV footage captured the moment she was forced into a van before falling out of it as it travelled at 60mph, before being found by members of the public.
Bowskill was convicted of kidnap, coercive and controlling behavior, and perverting the course of justice, while Sansome received 21 months.
Legal Consequences for Bowskill
Bowskill was handed a seven-and-a-half-year sentence in January 2022, which was later increased to 12 years.
The Court of Appeal concluded that his original sentence was too short.
He was also convicted of coercive and controlling behavior and perverting the course of justice.
He was cleared of causing grievous bodily harm as it became unclear how Angel had left the van.
Impact on the Family
Nikki and Patrick Lynn, who run a cleaning business, are Angel’s parents and are also parents to Reannon, Lewis, Lester, Kelsie, and Jimmy.
The family hope that Angel will continue to make progress and eventually be able to recount what happened to her.
Bowskill’s actions have caused immeasurable harm to Angel and her family, and they are likely to bear the impact of this tragedy for years to come.
