Kelly Ripa Breaks Down in Tears Over the Loss of Her Beloved Dog Chewie During Live Show in New York

Kelly Ripa became visibly emotional as she announced the death of her cherished dog, Chewie, on Live with Kelly and Mark.

The 54-year-old TV host and her husband, Mark Consuelos, 53, shared the heartbreaking news that their adopted dog had passed away at the age of 17.

Mark Consuelos Shares the Heartbreaking News

At the beginning of the show, Mark revealed the devastating details of Chewie’s final days, explaining that the dog’s health had rapidly deteriorated.

Chewie had stopped eating and became severely dehydrated, which made her condition even more difficult to bear.

As Mark shared this painful news, Kelly tried to hold back her tears but eventually covered her face with her hands, unable to contain her sorrow.

After a few moments, she composed herself enough to speak.

Kelly’s Emotional Tribute to Chewie

Kelly, apologizing through her tears, said: “I’m really sorry. I thought I got it all out, guys.

I really thought I got it all out, and I apologize because I did not.”

She continued, expressing how much Chewie had meant to their family.

“This is not how I wanted this to go down. God, she gave us so much.”

She spoke about the deep connection they shared with Chewie, explaining how the dog remained a loyal companion even as their children moved out. ”

As each one of our kids left for college and then moved out on their own, Chewie remained right there like our steadfast companion,” she said.

A Special Bond with Chewie

Kelly went on to describe how Chewie was more like a cat in many ways.

She didn’t enjoy being kissed on the face, and she would only seek affection on her terms. “She never let us kiss her face.

She was very precious about her face,” Kelly recalled. “She was not that dog.”

Kelly also shared a tender moment after Chewie’s passing, admitting that she had kissed the dog’s face, something she had never done while Chewie was alive.

“I kissed her a thousand times on the face, I kissed her nose,” she said with emotion.

“I know that she was like, somewhere in dog heaven, p**sed! But, I didn’t care because it was just so nice to have that.”

Fans Reach Out with Condolences

Viewers were deeply moved by the emotional moment and flooded Kelly’s Instagram with messages of sympathy.

One fan wrote, “Watching you now and crying! Don’t apologize! Chewie is part of your family! I went through it too.

It’s been seven months and I’m still missing mine!” Another fan added, “I cried with you while you guys were talking about Chewie.

Losing a beloved pet is like losing a member of your family, and there was no need for you to apologize.

She’s resting in peace now looking down on you.”

Support From Fellow Dog Lovers

Other fans shared their support, acknowledging the pain that comes with losing a furry family member.

“They are your fur babies and bring us so much joy. Grieve as much as you need to,” one wrote.

“I will be praying for you and your family.”

A fourth fan wrote, “I knew the moment you walked out today what had happened.

So very sorry for your loss. Do not apologize for being upset. She will always be a part of your family.

We dog owners understand.”

Through her emotional tribute, Kelly reminded viewers how deeply pets become a part of our lives and the special bond they form with us.
