In what now feels like an incredibly bittersweet moment, Kelly Osbourne had just shared how full of life her father, Ozzy Osbourne, was—only two weeks before he passed away.
At the time, she couldn’t have known that the emotional high of his final performance and her engagement would be followed so soon by deep heartbreak.
The legendary Black Sabbath frontman died on July 22 at the age of 76. On Thursday, he was laid to rest in a quiet, private funeral held at his Buckinghamshire home.
Ozzy’s Final Show Was a Family Milestone
Speaking in an interview shortly before his final concert at Villa Park in Birmingham, Kelly was beaming with pride over how her dad was feeling.
“My dad is amazing!” she said at the time. “He’s so excited for his final show on Saturday.
There’s nerves, excitement—all of it. He’s breezing through everything, and rehearsals have been incredible. This is his moment.”
That show turned out to be more than just a farewell to the stage—it was the last time Kelly would see her father perform live, just two days before she got engaged to Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson, right there at the concert.
A Wedding Plan Without Her Father Now Feels Incomplete
Kelly had also opened up about her wedding plans, wanting something low-key and personal.
“We were thinking about having a destination wedding,” she said.
“That way only people who actually like you will come.”
Heartbreakingly, Ozzy was supposed to walk her down the aisle—something that won’t happen now.
When it came to organizing the big day, Kelly was more than happy to hand over the reins to her mum, Sharon.
“I want nothing to do with it,” she joked. “If it were up to me, we’d just do it at the registry office and take over a pub after.
But since it’s not, I’m letting my mum plan it all.”
Honouring Ozzy in Her Own Way
During Wednesday’s funeral procession, Kelly wore a pair of purple glasses—identical to the ones her father often wore.
It was a simple but powerful tribute to the man she was closest to.
Friends and family gathered to pay their respects at Black Sabbath Bridge in Birmingham, where a procession passed through the city centre.
Sharon was there, joined by Kelly, her siblings Jack and Aimee, and Ozzy’s son Louis from his first marriage to Thelma Riley.
The Special Bond Between Ozzy and Kelly
Ozzy always made it known—Kelly was his favourite. In a 2003 interview with Rolling Stone, he didn’t shy away from admitting it.
“If I’ve got a favourite kid, it’s Kelly,” he said.
And when asked if the others knew, he added, “Oh, they know it! Me and Kelly, we’re like two peas in a pod.”
That deep father-daughter bond was beautifully captured when they released a revised version of “Changes” together.
The track soared to number one on the UK singles chart, serving as a touching reflection on their lives and relationship.
A Final Goodbye Surrounded by Family, Music, and Love
At the tribute site, the Osbourne siblings laid floral wreaths, stood in solidarity with their mother, and flashed peace signs to the crowds.
Kelly and Jack shared a heartfelt hug amid the outpouring of love from fans.
Though Ozzy is no longer physically present, it’s clear that the love, laughter, and legacy he leaves behind—especially with Kelly—will live on.
His final days were filled with family, music, and celebration. Just how he would’ve wanted.
