The Katsina State Government has set up a committee for the improvement of welfare of Orphans and Widows, Victims of banditry in the State.
The Committee was inaugurated at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Governor’s office.
Speaking during the inauguration, the State Deputy Governor Alhaji Mannir Yakubu FNIQS who is also the Chairman of the committee said, the Committee was set up following a resolution made during the State Executive Council meeting held on 11th of November 2020.
Alhaji Mannir Yakubu maintained that the state Government noted with concern the negative impact of the activities of bandits on the socio-economic well being of the affected communities, particularly Orphans and Widows left behind by Victims of the banditry.

The terms of reference given to the Committee are to identify Orphans and Widows in the eleven local government areas that are affected by the activities of banditry.
It is also to suggest and determine the kind of assistance to be provided to them by the government as well as to determine the qualifying age of the Orphans to be considered for this gesture.
