What started as a casual TikTok tour turned into something much more unexpected when Karoline Leavitt, President Donald Trump’s press secretary, took influencer Kate Mackz on a behind-the-scenes stroll through the White House.
What the two didn’t expect was to run into White Lotus and Harry Potter actor Jason Isaacs—who just days earlier had publicly slammed the president.
Jason Isaacs’ Surprise Cameo
While filming their walk-and-talk video, Leavitt and Mackz ran into Isaacs, who has made it no secret that he’s not a fan of Trump.
Just last week, he compared the president to his arrogant character on White Lotus and went as far as calling him a “scumbag” during an appearance in D.C.
Still, Isaacs seemed in good spirits when Mackz cheerily greeted him on camera:
“Hi guys, look who we ran into,” she said.
“One week after hanging out with Patrick Schwarzenegger. We’ve got to get you on the running show.”
Isaacs joked back, “Sure, I’m in… wait, running and talking at the same time?” prompting a laugh from the group.
As they continued the tour, Leavitt quipped, “You just never know who you’re going to run into at the White House.”
Inside Leavitt’s Office and Favorite Spots
The tour gave viewers a peek into Leavitt’s daily work life.
She led Mackz into her favorite space—the press briefing room—before ushering her into her personal office.
With her name proudly engraved on the door, Leavitt offered a glimpse of her routine and what keeps her motivated.
Inside, she pointed to a set of framed photos:
“One with the President, one from my first press briefing, and that’s my baby—my nine-month-old—at our senior staff swearing-in ceremony.”
Above her desk, a corkboard displayed a few mementos. One photo showed her son smiling on his first trip aboard Air Force One.
“That’s my baby on his first Air Force One flight,” she said proudly.
Then, there was a meme she keeps on display:
“A man pointing at a brain, and it says, ‘No thanks, I won’t be needing that.
I believe everything legacy media shows.’”
Leavitt explained, “We want critical thinking around here.”
A New Media Strategy
That meme reflects the administration’s broader media stance.
Both Trump and Leavitt have been vocal critics of traditional news outlets, favoring social media creators like Mackz instead.
In fact, Leavitt recently hosted a ‘new media’ press briefing that brought 100 influencers to the White House in celebration of Trump’s first 100 days back in office.
She’s also made waves by revoking some legacy media access—most notably barring Associated Press reporters after they resisted using Trump’s newly declared name for the Gulf of Mexico: the “Gulf of America.”
A federal judge has since ruled that the ban violated the First Amendment and ordered the press passes to be restored.
Faith, Pressure, and Preparation
Back in the briefing room, Mackz was struck by how small and intimate the space felt.
Leavitt agreed, saying that’s what most visitors think.
“It’s way smaller than you’d imagine,” she added. “We need to make it bigger so we can allow more voices in.”
Leavitt also shared how she prepares for the demanding role.
“Before every briefing, I pray to God. It’s a way to ground myself,” she said.
But that moment of calm is preceded by intense preparation. “My team and I consume all the news.
I speak to the president multiple times so I fully understand his thoughts and can communicate them to the public.”
She called the job a “dream come true” and a full-circle moment, having started her political journey as a Trump administration intern.
A Presidential Tesla and a Viral Moment
As the tour wrapped up, Leavitt casually pointed to a shiny red Tesla parked out front.
“That’s the President’s Tesla,” she revealed.
“He’s even said we can drive it if we want. I haven’t yet—but maybe I will soon.”
Mackz’s TikTok tour has since gone viral, racking up over a million views, while the extended version on YouTube has drawn a few thousand more.
However, not everyone was thrilled about her collaboration with Leavitt.
Backlash from a Familiar Face
Some of Mackz’s fans turned against her for the video, including one unexpected critic—Hope Walz, daughter of Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz.
Hope, who once praised Mackz’s interview with her father, commented on the video urging her to unpin that earlier interview.
The comment has since been deleted, but the tension it sparked remains.
