Since his death in 2021, Emmanuel “Mjokes” Matsane’s record company, Kalawa Jazmee, has been helping his family. Matsane was signed to Kalawa Jazmee as a member of the kwaito group Troopies.
The record label responded to reports regarding the deceased Trompies member’s estate. Since Matsane’s death in a car accident following a concert at Soweto’s Disoufeng, rumors indicate that his wife and family have struggled to make ends meet.
Kalawa said in a statement, “We have ensured that we are supportive of his family, including meeting the obligations related to his estate.”
The record label noted that it has contributed a sizeable sum to the estate.
“Any further disbursements authorized by the executor and the Master of the High Court are the responsibility of the estate.
“Kalawa’s obligation in this process is to cooperate with the estate and pay any amount owed to the estate, which we have done. Any additional sums are contingent on ongoing appraisal processes, which take time,” added Kalawa.
Kalawa stated that it anticipates a favourable outcome for Matsane’s beneficiaries and that it plans to work with the administrator to ensure that all beneficiaries receive their dues.
