Kaizer Chiefs have been on the hunt for a striker, and they’ve found a promising talent in Glody Lilepo.
The Congolese forward, 27, joined the Soweto giants this week, bringing with him experience from France’s Ligue 2 with Valenciennes FC.
Known more for his role as a wide striker than a traditional winger, Lilepo looks set to add some much-needed firepower to the Chiefs’ attacking line.
Lilepo Takes on Jersey Number 35
During his second training session with the club, Lilepo was spotted sporting shorts with the number 35 on them.
This number was previously worn by Aden McCarthy during the 2023/24 season, though McCarthy only made a few appearances off the bench.
It’s clear that Lilepo will be hoping to make a more significant impact on the field and potentially make the number 35 his own.
Kaizer Chiefs Show Gratitude to Morocco
On a different note, Kaizer Chiefs’ Director of Marketing, Jessica Motaung, shared a message of appreciation to Morocco after the recent AFCON 2025 draw.
The Moroccan Kingdom was selected to host the headquarters of the African Club Association (ACA), a move that Motaung welcomed warmly.
“Kaizer Chiefs Football Club would like to extend warmest congratulations to the Kingdom of Morocco on being awarded the rights to host the ACA headquarters,” Motaung expressed.
She emphasized that this decision would further strengthen the ACA’s role in African football and provide a significant boost to club football development across the continent.
A Bright Future for African Football
The move to establish the ACA headquarters in Morocco aligns well with the country’s ongoing preparations to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Motaung believes this decision will benefit the growth of football in Africa, providing a central hub for development and collaboration in the club football scene.
It’s a step forward in building a more cohesive and united future for African football.
