Kaizer Chiefs is currently undergoing significant changes in their squad, with the potential for a new coach and captain to take charge.
Amakhosi management has expressed their intention to bring in an additional coach to assist Arthur Zwane at Naturena.
This move comes as they seek to improve the team’s performance, particularly due to recent results falling short of expectations.
Although Zwane has shown promise in his first season, there is still room for him to learn and grow.
The possibility of having co-coaches leading the Glamour Boys in the upcoming season is also on the table.
Several names, including Pitso Mosimane and Manqoba Mngqithi, have been mentioned as potential candidates.
Former coach Molefi Ntseki was even offered a coaching position, although he declined it.
With the potential arrival of a new coach, there may also be a change in the team’s captaincy.
Itumeleng Khune, who was previously the captain, is no longer guaranteed a starting position.
This season, Keagan Dolly and Yusuf Maart have stepped in as captain in Khune’s absence, while Brandon Peterson has been favored by Zwane as the first-choice goalkeeper.
As a result, both Zwane and any future coach at Naturena will face a significant decision regarding the captaincy.
They will need to choose between reinstating Khune as the captain if he regains his starting position or considering alternatives such as Dolly, Maart, Zitha Kwinika, or new recruit Given Msimango.
Dolly, at 30 years old, may serve as a short-term solution, while Maart and other younger players could offer long-term options.
The management of Kaizer Chiefs faces the task of making strategic decisions regarding the team’s future, considering the potential appointment of a new coach and the selection of a captain who can lead the team effectively.
These changes aim to revitalize the squad and improve its performance in the upcoming season.
