For years, Kaizer Chiefs supporters have been waiting for that perfect start to the season — and now, it’s finally here.
After just two matches in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign, the Glamour Boys are sitting proudly at the top of the table, a spot they haven’t claimed in what feels like forever.
Two Games, Two Wins, and Maximum Points
Wednesday night at the FNB Stadium was another solid outing for Chiefs as they edged Polokwane City 1–0.
Siphesihle Ndlovu stepped up when it mattered most, breaking the deadlock in the 79th minute to seal the win.
This came just days after their impressive 2–0 opening victory away to Stellenbosch FC last Sunday.
With two wins from two, Chiefs have collected a perfect six points, putting them ahead of Durban City, Marumo Gallants, and Sekhukhune United on goal difference.
Rivals Left Chasing the Pace
Perhaps the sweetest part of this early-season form is the cushion over arch-rivals Orlando Pirates, who have stumbled out of the gates and find themselves in 14th place — a full six points behind Chiefs.
To add to the bragging rights, Chiefs are yet to concede a goal, having scored three without reply.
Next Stop: Richards Bay at Home
The momentum now shifts to their next fixture — a home clash against Richards Bay on Tuesday, 19 August, with kick-off set for 19:30.
It’s a golden opportunity for Chiefs to extend their perfect start and keep the top spot secure.
The Team Behind the Winning Start
Against Polokwane, coach Khalil Ben Youssef went with: Petersen, Cross, McCarthy, Miguel (captain), Monyane, Cele, Mthethwa, Shabalala, Duba, Lilepo, and Sirino.
On the bench were Ntwari, Frosler, Kwinika, Mako, Ngcobo, Ndlovu, Mmodi, Vilakazi, and Du Preez.
Could This Finally Be Their Season?
It’s early days, but Chiefs’ form has given their fans reason to believe.
If they can maintain this level of consistency, the long wait for glory might just be coming to an end.
