Kaizer Chiefs reveal the salary and transfer fee of Inacio Miguel as the defender settles into leadership role in Soweto

It wasn’t exactly a dream start for Inacio Miguel when he arrived at Kaizer Chiefs.

Coming from Petro de Luanda in Angola, the 29-year-old defender had to shake off a tough early patch in the PSL.

But just one season in, he’s become not only a solid performer—but also a potential future captain at Naturena.

Let’s take a closer look at what he’s earning, how much the club invested in him, and why Chiefs fans might be seeing a leader in the making.

Shaky Debut Season Turned Around Quickly

Miguel’s first few games were anything but smooth.

In just six matches, he picked up four yellow cards and a red—an unsettling start for a new signing.

But he turned things around impressively.

By the end of the 2024/25 season, he had made 28 appearances and scored four goals—a strong stat line for a centre-back.

His efforts didn’t go unnoticed. With the departure of Yusuf Maart, Miguel was trusted with the captain’s armband more than once, a clear sign of the faith the coaching staff now has in him.

What Kaizer Chiefs Paid to Bring Him In

According to Angolan outlet PontoZero, Kaizer Chiefs spent around $250,000 (about R4.4 million) to secure Miguel’s services.

That might sound like a big number, but in the world of football transfers, it’s fairly modest—especially for a player who’s shown signs of leadership and improvement.

The Breakdown of Miguel’s Monthly Pay

So how much is Miguel earning in South Africa? PontoZero reports his monthly salary is around 20 million Angolan Kwanza, which converts to roughly R385,000 per month.

That totals about R4.6 million per year.

While this makes him one of the higher-paid players at Kaizer Chiefs, his earnings are still below what former stars like Keagan Dolly, Khama Billiat, and Leonardo Castro reportedly took home—some of whom were making nearly double his current package.

Leadership Role Awaits in New Season

Miguel is now heading into the second year of his three-year contract with the Soweto giants.

With Maart gone and some gaps in leadership, all signs point to Miguel stepping up in a big way for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

Having earned five international caps for Angola and been part of their 2023 AFCON squad, he brings experience and composure—two things Kaizer Chiefs will definitely need as they look to climb back to the top.

Is Miguel Worth the Salary?

Some might ask whether nearly R400,000 a month is a bit much for a player still proving himself.

But if his late-season form and leadership potential are anything to go by, Kaizer Chiefs may have made a smart investment—especially considering the salaries they’ve paid out in the past.
