Kaizer Chiefs are on the lookout for fresh attacking options as the transfer window starts to wind down, and one name that’s come up is Khanyisa Mayo — the son of former Bafana Bafana star Patrick Mayo.
The elder Mayo revealed that Chiefs have made a move to inquire about his son, but stressed that any decision is ultimately out of his hands.
“Chiefs spoke to me about my son,” Patrick Mayo said.
“But the decision lies with the club in Algeria and with Khanyisa himself.”
Agent Clears the Air on Transfer Rumours
Khanyisa Mayo’s agent, Basia Michaels from QT Sports, was quick to put the speculation to rest.
She confirmed that Khanyisa is fully committed to his current club, CR Belouizdad, and still has two years left on his contract.
Michaels emphasized there have been no talks or offers from Kaizer Chiefs regarding the striker’s future.
“Khanyisa is currently training in Algeria,” Michaels said.
“He arrived last Sunday, and training began on Monday. I’ve had no recent communication with Chiefs, only some in the past.”
She added, “Right now, there’s nothing happening because Khanyisa has a contract that runs for another two years, and he’s happy at CRB. He wants to continue his journey there.
We haven’t received any offers because he just signed a deal a year ago.”
Chiefs Still Exploring Options Ahead of Deadline
Despite the agent’s clear statement, Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly still interested in strengthening their strike force.
Khanyisa Mayo remains one of the forwards they have on their radar, but any potential move will depend heavily on whether CR Belouizdad is willing to negotiate and if Khanyisa himself is keen on returning to the South African Premiership.
