As Kaizer Chiefs gear up for their pre-season tour to the Netherlands, the club seems to be making big moves in the transfer market—and fast.
After a lacklustre previous campaign, it looks like the team is going all in to turn things around.
With several new names reportedly already locked in and more on the way, Chiefs fans might finally have something to get excited about this season.
Five New Faces Lined Up for the Amakhosi
If the early transfer buzz is accurate, Chiefs have already secured the signatures of at least five new players.
Among the most notable names are Orlando Pirates defenders Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane, both said to be joining on free transfers.
That move alone is enough to raise eyebrows, given the fierce rivalry between the clubs.
The club is also believed to have landed Etiosa Ighodaro, the striker from Mamelodi Sundowns, as well as Cape Town Spurs’ winger Asanele Velebayi.
Though not yet officially confirmed by the club, these players are said to be “Khosified,” a local term that essentially means they’ve joined the Chiefs family.
Ethan Chislett Turns Down Europe for Soweto
The most recent addition to the Amakhosi squad appears to be Ethan Chislett, a Durban-born attacking midfielder who was playing for Port Vale in England.
Chislett reportedly rejected offers from Scotland’s Motherwell and England’s Wigan Athletic to return to South Africa and sign with Chiefs.
The 26-year-old is believed to have agreed to a two-year contract with an option to extend for a third.
It’s a solid move for both sides—and one that suggests Chislett sees real potential in the Chiefs’ project.
Straight Off the Plane and Into Naturena
According to FARPost, who first broke the news, Chislett officially touched down in South Africa on Thursday morning.
From OR Tambo International Airport, he was immediately taken to the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena, where he was scheduled for his medical examination.
The club has yet to make an official announcement, but all signs point to this being a done deal.
Barring any last-minute medical surprises, Chislett should be unveiled as an Amakhosi player any moment now.
A Sign of New Ambitions?
The flurry of signings and serious intent in the transfer market shows that Kaizer Chiefs mean business heading into the new season.
With fans growing restless over years of underperformance, this recruitment drive could finally be the turning point.
But will this new lineup deliver results on the pitch?
