Excitement is building at Naturena as Kaizer Chiefs supporters wait to see their latest signing, Ethan Chislett, take to the Betway Premiership pitch.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who joined from England’s Port Vale, is already being hailed as one of the standout additions to the squad this season.

Notably, Chislett turned down offers from both Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates to don the Amakhosi jersey.

Chislett Finally Cleared to Play

Despite some earlier paperwork delays, Chislett has now received his work permit, officially making him available for selection.

Kaizer Chiefs’ assistant coach Cedric Kaze confirmed, “Ethan is available for selection after his paper has been resolved.”

However, fans waiting to see him in action had to be patient, as Chislett did not feature in the 1-0 victory over Rise and Shine.

Interestingly, although primarily an attacking midfielder, Chislett brings a surprising goal-scoring record from England, netting 40 goals in 242 professional appearances.

The number 23 is expected to inject creativity and attacking flair into the Chiefs’ midfield lineup.

Introducing Asanele Velebayi

The excitement doesn’t stop there. Kaizer Chiefs have also officially welcomed winger Asanele Velebayi from Cape Town Spurs.

At 22, Velebayi is a versatile forward capable of playing on either wing or as an attacking midfielder, giving the team multiple tactical options.

How Velebayi Could Fit In

Looking at the lineup that beat Polokwane City 1-0, the simplest adjustment would be to slot Velebayi in on the left wing in place of Gaston Sirino, who struggled during the match.

His addition strengthens Chiefs’ attacking options and adds competition for minutes on the flanks.

Predicted Starting XI with Velebayi

  • Brandon Petersen – Goalkeeper

  • Thabiso Monyane – Right back

  • Inacio Miguel – Right central defender

  • Aden McCarthy – Left central defender

  • Bradley Cross – Left back

  • Sibongiseni Mthethwa – Defensive midfielder

  • Thabo Cele – Central midfielder

  • Mduduzi Shabalala – Attacking midfielder

  • Glody Lilepo – Right winger

  • Asanele Velebayi – Left winger

  • Wandile Duba – Striker
