Itumeleng Khune, the captain of the Kaizer Chiefs football club, believes that he still has a lot to offer and is not yet ready to retire.
Although he has been a supporting player to Brandon Petersen, Khune remains a key senior figure in the squad under coach Arthur Zwane.
The 35-year-old goalkeeper has made just 12 appearances this season, and his contract expires at the end of June.
Khune’s future in the team remains in the hands of the Kaizer Chiefs.
Khune’s role in the Kaizer Chiefs
Khune played a supportive role in recent campaigns and has not had much time on the pitch.
However, he still feels he has much to offer the team, both on and off the field.
He has been a loyal player for the club, and his future depends on the decision of the team management.
Khune’s future
Khune acknowledges that the team has the power to make a decision regarding his future, and he is willing to discuss other options with his wife if the team decides to let him go.
He has not considered retirement and will sit down with the team to discuss his future role in the club.
Kaizer Chiefs’ standing
Currently, Kaizer Chiefs is in fourth place in the DStv Premiership, with two matches remaining.
The team has a chance to clinch a CAF berth next season and has already secured an MTN8 place for the 2023/24 season.
The team will face SuperSport United on May 13th and finish their season against Cape Town City FC.
Both matches kick off at 15:00.
