This afternoon, Kaizer Chiefs journeyed to the Danie Craven Stadium to face Stellenbosch FC in the MTN8 quarterfinals.

The team of Arthur Zwane prevailed in a tense penalty shootout.

Zwane’s confidence in Itumeleng Khune, who made his first appearance for Chiefs in almost a year, paid off, as the goalkeeper saved two key penalty kicks!

Since the victory, Arthur Zwane has complimented on Itumeleng Khune’s performance.

Khune seized his chance – Kaizer Chiefs head coach

The Kaizer Chiefs head coach told KickOff, “Like I’ve mentioned previously, we want to promote competition in every department.”

“It was advantageous for us to give him the chance today, and he seized it with both hands.

This is the Itumeleng Khune we wish to see. This Khune has the ability to lead the squad moving ahead.

He still needs to improve, but he played extremely well today and I hope he continues to play well.

A lengthy journey lies ahead! – Zwane

We have a long way to go before achieving our goals. Before the game, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane told the club’s website.

“Our tactical discipline and game strategy are becoming more similar.

“Players are aware of their roles, and we are working on our lackluster chemistry in the last third.”

“When comparing the number of box entries we had in our previous game to the number we had against Maritzburg, I do not believe it was sufficient.

“We were headed in the right direction until we lost two guys and had to begin again.” The Kaizer Chiefs must field their best eleven players.

“In terms of comprehension, so that we can work on it and polish it, we had to rearrange things. You want to do this while you are producing results, but we have faith.”
