Kaizer Chiefs are making moves to boost their offensive lineup, and it looks like they might soon have a new addition in 25-year-old winger Mfundo Thikazi.
The Glamour Boys have been inconsistent under coach Nasreddine Nabi this season, and they know that serious reinforcements are needed to compete with their rivals, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Thikazi Could Be a Bargain for Chiefs Amid Royal AM’s Struggles
According to the latest reports, Kaizer Chiefs are closing in on Thikazi, who currently plays for Royal AM.
The winger, whose contract is still active with the club, has been part of the ongoing transfer rumors as his team faces off-field issues.
Insiders have suggested that Thikazi could be available for a relatively low price, given that some players at Royal AM are reluctant to renew their contracts due to the club’s current challenges.
A source told Soccer Laduma, “There are some players at Royal AM whose contracts are coming to an end in June and they are reluctant to sign new contracts because of the current situation.
With Mfundo, though, he’s still under contract, but Kaizer Chiefs would have to buy him if they are interested.
However, I don’t think that will be an issue as he likely won’t cost too much.”
Another insider confirmed that Chiefs are indeed interested in signing Thikazi by the end of the current season.
Nasreddine Nabi Remains Optimistic About Kaizer Chiefs’ Future
While Kaizer Chiefs have had their fair share of struggles, coach Nasreddine Nabi remains hopeful about the club’s future.
He admitted that the team has underperformed over the years but believes they are on the right track toward success.
Following his side’s Nedbank Cup victory, Nabi emphasized that they are taking things “step by step” and are committed to building a squad capable of achieving glory in the future.
Nabi told IDiski Times, “Step by step, step by step, we will come back.
We go step by step, with no pressure, we work seriously and Kaizer Chiefs I promise you in the future we will come back.
Now we don’t come back, but we will come back, step by step.”
The coach went on to express his confidence in the current squad, saying, “They are very good players and we feel that those are the present and future of the club.
We just need to add some ingredients, but we feel the sauce we are cooking is coming along.”
Will Mfundo Thikazi Make a Big Impact at Kaizer Chiefs?
The question now is whether Thikazi will live up to the expectations at Kaizer Chiefs.
Will the winger be able to bring the spark that the team needs to climb the ranks in South African football? As Chiefs continue to prepare for the future, Thikazi’s potential move could be the spark that helps the club return to its former glory.
