As Kaizer Chiefs gear up for another season filled with high hopes and scrutiny, their new midfield signing, Siphesihle Ndlovu, is already turning heads—and raising a few eyebrows.

Snatched up for R5 million from SuperSport United just days before a major ownership change at the club, Ndlovu is now in the Netherlands with the rest of the squad for pre-season training.

Farouk Khan Weighs In on the Transfer

Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan, who was part of the club in the early 2000s, believes this deal was a smart move.

But he’s also issuing a word of caution.

Speaking to SoccerBeat, Khan praised Ndlovu’s technical skills and his ability to push forward effectively.

“His passing range is solid, and he can occasionally pop up with a goal,” Khan said.

However, he was quick to point out that talent alone won’t be enough to guarantee success.

The Midfield Puzzle Ndlovu Must Solve

Khan explained that the biggest hurdle for Ndlovu will be blending in with the rest of the midfield unit, especially players like Gaston Sirino and Thabo Cele.

“The key question is whether they can develop the right chemistry quickly.

When you keep building from scratch every season, it’s hard to find long-term stability,” he warned.

Leadership Might Be the Missing Link

One thing Khan seems unsure about is Ndlovu’s ability to lead from the center of the park.

“In all great teams, the midfield usually has a strong leader. I haven’t seen that from him yet,” Khan admitted.

At both Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, Ndlovu wasn’t really the midfield general.

“He did well under Gavin Hunt at SuperSport, but he wasn’t the dominant figure.

So the challenge will be forming a solid bond with the midfield and syncing with both the attack and defense.”

Will He Rise to the Occasion?

Ndlovu’s signing has definitely brought excitement, but the jury is still out on whether he can truly anchor the Chiefs’ midfield.

The season ahead will be a real test—not just of his skill, but of how well he can fit into the rhythm of a team still searching for consistency.
