After a 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns this past Saturday, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has made it clear that he is staying with the club, despite the ongoing challenges.
The 59-year-old Tunisian manager, who joined the Chiefs in July from AS FAR, has faced a mixed start to his tenure, but he remains determined to see through the project.
Nabi’s Strong Commitment to Kaizer Chiefs
Nabi expressed his loyalty to the club, revealing that he is not motivated by financial incentives.
“I’m not here for money.
I sometimes get offers that are three times what I’m getting, but I love this club and the project we’re working on,” he said after the tough loss to Sundowns.
The coach also voiced his frustration at being criticized by his colleagues, a sentiment that clearly impacted him after the match.
Reflecting on the Sundowns Defeat
Despite the defeat, Nabi remained optimistic about his team’s performance.
“It’s a game we’ll leave with some regrets,” he admitted.
He pointed out that his players had created enough opportunities and controlled the game, especially in the second half.
“At the end of the day, football is about scoring, and I think we deserved a tie based on the performance we put out there,” he added.
Looking Ahead with Confidence
With 11 matches left in the season, Nabi is confident that Kaizer Chiefs will finish the campaign on a positive note.
“We know we lost points today, but we have to regroup and push ourselves for the next game,” he said.
He also noted that the team’s position on the log doesn’t fully reflect their performance.
“The standings are temporary. We’re confident we’ll finish higher up,” Nabi stated.
Turning Down the Tunisian National Team Offer
Earlier in the season, Nabi turned down an offer to coach the Tunisian national football team in order to continue his work with Kaizer Chiefs.
This decision reflects his commitment to the club and belief in its potential to improve.
