Kaizer Chiefs kicked off their weekend with a solid 2–0 victory over Stellenbosch, but fans couldn’t help noticing three of their newest recruits were nowhere to be seen.

Assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef, who took charge in the absence of head coach Nasreddine Nabi, has now explained why.

Work Permit Delays Keep Players Out

Ben Youssef revealed that striker Flavio Silva and midfielder Ethan Chislett are still waiting for their work permits before they can take to the field.

Another new signing, Nkanyiso Shinga, was also unavailable for the match.

“When the new players come back to join us it will be better — they will give us more solutions,” Ben Youssef told iDiski Times. “We’re waiting for them, we continue to work.”

Head Coach Absent for Personal Reasons

The weekend also saw Amakhosi without their head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, who had travelled to Tunisia to be with his injured wife.

In his place, Ben Youssef managed the team, guiding them to a confident win while looking ahead to their next challenge.

Focus Shifts to the Next Game

Ben Youssef stressed that the team’s focus immediately turned to their upcoming clash against Polokwane City.

“The most important thing we discussed in the changing room is that we finished today’s game and start thinking about the next one.

The most difficult thing for us is to always think about the second game,” he said.

Always Ready for Any Scenario

According to the assistant coach, preparation is about expecting the unexpected.

“As a coach, we have to prepare for different playing plans — A, B, C, D — because players can get injured even in the last training session,” he explained.

“We prepare all the team so anyone can start the game.

If players are available, it’s lucky for us. If not, it’s our job to prepare for the next play.”

Six Signings Already, But Could There Be More?

With six new faces already signed this season, it remains unclear whether Kaizer Chiefs will dip into the transfer market again.

For now, the team seems focused on getting their newest players cleared to play and keeping their winning momentum alive.
