On Wednesday 20 April, MSC opened sales for its 2024 World Cruise and the 3000-passenger MSC Poesia will be headed to South Africa for the first time. South Africans love a good laugh and Mzansi cannot stop cracking up at the name of this cruise ship headed to our shores.
The MSC Poesia is described as “an innovative cruise ship with elegant style that brings traditional craftsmanship to creative designs.”
The 121-day cruise on the MSC Poesia will depart on 5 January 2024 from Portofino in Italy, allowing its passengers to explore 31 countries around the world.
The cruise will stop in France, Cyprus, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Zanzibar. Passengers will also stop in South Africa for a chance to explore Durban, Gqeberha and Cape Town.
“A pleasant and relaxing day might involve browsing the shops and restaurants at Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, or relaxing on Camps Bay’s beach,” the MSC writes of Cape Town.
TWEEPS JUST CAN’ GET ENOUGH OF THE NAME
Taking to Twitter, Mzansi tweeps could not help but crack a few jokes about the MSC Poesia.
One tweep wrote: “The name of the MSC Poesia makes me snort-laugh.”
“How more appropriately named visiting ship to SA can you get than this. Will probably only get ANC takers of their offered cruises,” wrote another tweep.
“I’d be too embarrassed to board,” wrote another tweep.
“Graffiti artists walking the docks and come across the MSC ship: ‘Damn it, this one’s been tagged already.’”
The MSC Poesia offers several top-class amenities including a state-of-the-art gym, basketball and tennis courts, a sushi bar, spa, sauna, steam room and cinema amongst others.
