Hollywood actor Josh Hartnett faced a frightening experience last week when the SUV he was traveling in was involved in a collision with a police vehicle in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
The “Pearl Harbor” and “Lucky Number Slevin” star, 47, was rushed to a local hospital following the accident, which occurred around 1 a.m. Thursday, according to CBC reports.
Details of the Accident
Hartnett was a passenger in an SUV driven by a 59-year-old man whose name has not been released.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary reported that one of their officers made contact with the SUV “as a precaution,” and the officer also received medical attention.
Fortunately, all parties—Hartnett, the driver, and the officer—sustained only minor injuries.
Both vehicles were reportedly “significantly damaged” in the crash.
Police officials are now seeking witnesses and video footage from the incident, which took place at the corner of New Cove Road and Elizabeth Avenue.
Hartnett’s Current Projects in Newfoundland
The actor had been returning home from the set of an untitled Netflix series currently filming in Newfoundland.
The production, which also stars Mackenzie Davis, Charlie Heaton, Natasha Henstridge, and several other notable performers, centers on a mysterious sea creature terrorizing a remote town. According to the show’s logline, a fisherman must fight to protect his family, community, and way of life.
Hartnett has been spotted in promotional photos released by Netflix this past summer alongside the rest of the cast.
Personal Life and Recent Milestones
Hartnett shares three children with his wife, British actress Tamsin Egerton, 36.
The couple recently celebrated three years of marriage after tying the knot in a private ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall in London in 2022, following a decade-long courtship.
Friends say the ceremony was intentionally low-key, attended only by close family and friends.
Next Steps and Investigation
Authorities continue to investigate the collision, emphasizing the need for public assistance to identify witnesses or obtain video footage.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is urging anyone with information to come forward to help piece together the events leading up to the crash.
