John Barilaro, a former deputy premier of NSW, has been charged in connection with an altercation with a freelance cameraman earlier this year on Sydney’s northern beaches.

According to NSW Police, a 51-year-old male received a future court appearance notice on Friday via his legal counsel for alleged assault and malicious damage offences, they said.

On July 3, the former lawmaker and independent cameraman Matt Costello got into a fight outside a club in Manly.

Online videos appear to show the two grappling as they push and grip one another while the man tries to record Mr. Barilaro, who suddenly turns and walks away.

Later, Mr. Barilaro corroborated the occurrence, stating he felt harassed while out with companions and was confronted in the dark outside a bar.

To walk outside and have a camera thrust in your face. In July, he said to 2GB, “I’m a private citizen.

I merely moved a camera out of the way. I didn’t abuse anyone,’ I said.

On October 12, Mr. Barilaro is anticipated to show up before Manly Local Court.
