You’d think nothing could bring down an NFL star who just led his team to a big win, right? But for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, reality came crashing down not long after a victory—literally.
And it was enough to make him cancel what would’ve been one of the wildest purchases of his life: a $3 million Batmobile replica.
A Wild Dream Put on Hold
During a previous season of Hard Knocks, Burrow casually mentioned to his teammates that he was planning to sp
lurge on a custom-built Batmobile—one of just ten in the world.
This wasn’t your average flashy sports car. We’re talking about a full-blown replica of the “Tumbler” from The Dark Knight films, complete with one-way mirrored glass, a decked-out dashboard, and custom seating. Sure, it wasn’t street-legal, but it definitely would’ve turned heads in Cincinnati.
That dream, though, was short-lived.
A Home Burglary Changed Everything
In the latest season of Netflix’s Quarterback docuseries, Burrow finally explained what happened: he pulled the plug on the Batmobile after finding out his house had been burgled.
The burglary hit while he was away with the team, and according to Burrow, that moment completely shifted his priorities.
“Yeah… that’s why I didn’t end up getting the Batmobile,” he told the show’s producers.
“I had other things I needed to deal with at that point.”
And you could tell from the show—he wasn’t just saying it.
Netflix cameras actually caught the moment he got the news, right after a road win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Still in part of his Bengals uniform, Burrow was seen in the locker room with his head in his hands, scrolling through his phone.
When Things Were Going Great… Until They Weren’t
Burrow’s raw reaction was one many can relate to: “Of f***ing course this happened to me right now,” he said.
“When you’re on cloud nine, something’s gonna bring you right back down. It just felt like the kind of year that it was.”
From potential Batmobile owner to burglary victim in the span of a few days. That’s a rough turn, even for an NFL star.
The Mystery of the 911 Call and the Olivia Drama
Adding to the drama? The 911 call wasn’t made by Burrow’s longtime girlfriend, Olivia Holzmacher.
Instead, it came from Olivia Ponton, a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model with over eight million TikTok followers.
Ponton reportedly found the mess—a shattered window and a ransacked bedroom—when she got to Burrow’s home on December 9.
At the time, Burrow was away with the Bengals.
While the two have been spotted out together since, including at a late-night outing in New York, Ponton has refused to answer any questions about their relationship—even when paparazzi caught her at the Met Gala.
Holzmacher, for her part, is no longer believed to be involved with Burrow.
Four Suspects, A Trail of Stolen Sports Gear
As for the burglary itself, it didn’t take long for authorities to track down four suspects: Bastian Morales, Jordan Sanchez, Sergio Cabello, and Alexander Chavez—all Chilean nationals who had overstayed their visas in the U.S.
Police arrested the group and reportedly found them in possession of LSU and Bengals gear, believed to have been taken from Burrow’s home.
That wasn’t all: three of the men are now facing federal charges, not just for the burglary but for allegedly falsifying records and transporting stolen goods.
Even more shocking? Investigators believe this crew may have also targeted the homes of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, two of the Kansas City Chiefs’ biggest stars.
From Superhero Car to Real-Life Priorities
In the end, Joe Burrow’s brush with crime served as a wake-up call.
What started as an off-season plan to live out his Batman fantasy turned into a much more sobering moment.
The Batmobile may be off the table for now—but Burrow, like always, seems focused on bouncing back stronger.
