During his visit to Ireland, US President Joe Biden was upstaged by Irish President Michael D Higgins’ dog, Misneach, whose barking interrupted their conversation.
The meeting took place at the official residence of the Irish President in Dublin, where the two heads of state were walking through the grounds accompanied by Higgins’ wife, Sabina Coyne.
However, as they were walking, Misneach started barking at Biden, causing Higgins to briefly stop the conversation with the US President to pet his dog, before shooing it away.
Biden seemed disinterested and put on his sunglasses before turning to speak with Coyne.
This moment, which was caught on camera, has been dubbed as hilarious by many on social media.
It offers a lighthearted moment during the President’s trip, which was focused on more serious matters such as the Northern Ireland peace process and the future of US-Ireland relations.
Biden has previously expressed his love for dogs and often speaks about his German Shepherd, Major, who is the first rescue dog to live in the White House.
In fact, during his campaign, Biden even released a video of himself playing with his dog, which went viral on social media.
While the incident with Misneach may have been a humorous interruption, it also highlights the importance of pets in people’s lives.
For many, their pets are an integral part of their families and daily routines, providing comfort, companionship and love.
