Jimmy Kimmel commemorated yesterday’s Georgia Senate runoff by criticizing Republican candidate Herschel Walker, who is competing against incumbent Raphael Warnock in a campaign that is fast becoming quite memorable. Jimmy Kimmel Live’s late-night host, who has made Walker his latest punchline, used Friday night’s monologue to deliver more jabs at the candidate with jokes that were almost pre-written.
“Walker spent the day making a final effort, which is uncharacteristic of him,” Kimmel said. During the final push, he is often miles away from the hospital, telling a waitress at a Waffle House that she may be the one.
Kimmel reminded his audience, “Even though he is a revered local football legend, Herschel Walker has not exactly ignited excitement among Republican voters,” before pointing out Walker’s behaviors, which are, to put it bluntly, rather inconsistent with his ideology.
“Family values? He is a serial domestic abuser with more children than a Dave & Busters at noon on a Saturday. Pro-life? I believe he was Planned Parenthood’s client of the year,” remarked Kimmel. “Favoring police enforcement? He lied about being a police officer, an FBI agent, and his military experience, which did not exist. Pro-business? He stated that his poultry factory employed 800 individuals. It employed eight individuals.”
Kimmel stated that regardless of the outcome of Georgia’s race, he would miss the almost infinite supply of material that Walker offered for his late night program.
“As someone who does a show every night, it saddens me that Herschel Walker won’t be on camera every day, so whatever happens tonight, I just want to say it’s been a wild ride, thank you,” Kimmel said, before introducing “one long look back at one of the most entertaining Senate campaigns in American history.”
Kimmel’s montage, set to Sarah McLachlan’s “I Will Remember You,” contained some of Walker’s most notable gaffes, including the confusing vampire phrase made fun of by Whoopi Goldberg on The View. See for yourself in the video provided above.
ABC airs Jimmy Kimmel Live weeknights at 11:35/10:35c.
