Becoming a parent is never easy — and for Jesy Nelson, it was a rollercoaster ride filled with fear, love, and a whole lot of strength.

In her first TV interview since giving birth, the former Little Mix singer joined Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on This Morning to talk about the emotional and physically exhausting journey that brought her twin daughters into the world.

An Unexpected and Scary Diagnosis

Jesy and her partner, Zion Foster, were over the moon when they found out they were expecting twins — a complete surprise for both of them.

But the excitement quickly turned to worry when doctors diagnosed Jesy with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) — a rare and serious condition that can put one or both babies at risk.

She admitted that from that point on, it was nearly impossible to relax.

“I couldn’t even enjoy my pregnancy,” she shared.

“It should’ve been the happiest time of my life… but instead I was constantly anxious.”

Surgery, Complications, and Weekly Scans

As Jesy’s condition worsened, doctors recommended laser surgery — a scary and urgent decision she initially struggled to accept.

Her bump became tight and uncomfortable, and she often felt breathless.

“It felt like a drum,” she said, recalling how Zion noticed something didn’t feel right.

The procedure was performed that same day, though the couple confessed it came with no guarantees.

“It brings back so much anxiety just thinking about it,” Zion admitted.

A Long Stay in Hospital and a Hard Goodbye

Jesy went into labour ten weeks early, and little Ocean Jade and Story Monroe were born at 31 weeks, immediately whisked away to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

The family spent ten long weeks in the hospital, living day by day in a state of uncertainty.

Jesy shared just how emotionally taxing that time was:

“Most people would be desperate to go home, but I was so terrified — I didn’t want to leave.”

Coming Home at Last — Just in Time for Her Birthday

After three months in hospital, Jesy was finally able to bring her baby girls home.

She shared the news on social media, posting a sweet photo of herself playing with her daughters and writing:

“My babies made it home for my birthday.”

Fans flooded her page with love, support, and congratulations for reaching such a powerful milestone.

The Harsh Reality of NICU Life

Jesy didn’t sugarcoat what it was like to have premature babies in NICU.

She described feeling helpless — unable to hold or comfort her daughters because of all the wires, tubes, and equipment surrounding them.

“It breaks your heart into a million pieces,” she said. “Nothing can prepare you for that.”

Seeing them finally reunited and healthy, she said, was a moment she’ll never forget.

Love, Support, and a New Level of Connection

Throughout everything, Zion stayed by her side.

He spoke about how the experience changed their relationship:

“You really understand the love you have. It’s taken us to a whole new level.”

They even managed to make the hospital feel more like home by turning a couch into a makeshift bed beside Jesy’s — a little detail that warmed the hearts of the nurses caring for them.

From Rumours to Reality

Jesy and Zion announced their pregnancy in January 2025, after previously facing speculation about a split.

Zion, who grew up in a Nigerian household in South London, began his music career on SoundCloud and has since become a rising star.

The couple began dating in 2022 and have grown stronger through each challenge life has thrown their way.

Sharing Her Story in a New Documentary

Now, Jesy is preparing to open up like never before in a raw and honest documentary series.

The show will give fans an inside look at her life-threatening pregnancy, the emotional weight of motherhood, and even her past experiences, including her departure from Little Mix in 2020.

Much like her powerful BBC documentary “Odd One Out” in 2019, which explored her mental health journey, this new project will offer an unfiltered look into what life has really been like for Jesy — the highs, the lows, and the love that’s carried her through.
