Just days before she’s set to take center stage at one of music’s biggest nights, Jennifer Lopez is pushing through injuries and intense rehearsals — and she’s doing it all with her signature grace and grit.
The 55-year-old superstar gave fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse on Instagram this Friday, showing off a fresh bruise on her arm in a black-and-white photo taken inside a dance studio.
But the mark isn’t stopping her — it’s just part of the price she’s paying to make her big return to the American Music Awards as both host and performer.
A Glimpse Behind the Rehearsal Curtain
In the post, Jennifer was surrounded by dancers, all dressed in casual workout gear.
She stood confidently in a plunging black leotard paired with black leggings, Nike knee pads, and white sneakers — a look that hints at the high-energy performance she’s preparing.
Captioning the shot with: “It takes a village. DANCE AGAIN #AMAS @cbstv @ParamountPlus,” J.Lo reminded fans that putting together a jaw-dropping show takes teamwork and tenacity.
The Face Injury That Almost Derailed Everything
This isn’t the first injury she’s faced in recent weeks.
Earlier in May, the multi-hyphenate revealed she had actually hurt her face during rehearsals — enough to require stitches.
She initially shared the news in a cryptic selfie, holding an ice pack over a red, swollen nose and eye, writing simply: “So this happened.”
Later, she clarified the incident in a follow-up post, explaining that it occurred during AMAs rehearsals.
The injury, although concerning, was treated quickly thanks to celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Jason Diamond, known for his appearances on Dr. 90210.
J.Lo Stays Strong Despite Setbacks
Speaking to People, Jennifer opened up about the incident, saying:
“I hurt my nose.
I hit it in rehearsal and I had to get stitches. It was fine. A few of us have gotten hurt in rehearsals.
We’re doing a very high-energy athletic number so it’s, I guess, bound to happen.”
A follow-up post showed her resting in gray sweats, her red nose still visibly swollen.
But by Tuesday, Jennifer shared another update — and the progress was impressive.
Standing next to Dr. Diamond in a bright, relieved selfie, she wrote:
“Thank you for stitching me up Dr. Diamond. A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.”
Though there was still a bit of discoloration near the bridge of her nose, her skin was healing fast — and she looked nearly back to her glowing self.
Returning to the AMAs With Big Plans
Jennifer’s appearance at this year’s American Music Awards marks a major return.
Not only is she hosting again — for the first time in a decade — but she’s also bringing her signature dance power to the stage.
Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, said in a press release:
“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Lopez back to host the American Music Awards. Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show.”
With over ten performances under her belt at the AMAs since her debut in 2001, Lopez knows exactly how to electrify the stage — and this year’s show promises to be no different.
When and Where to Watch the Big Show
The AMAs will air live on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, from the luxurious new Fontainebleau resort in Las Vegas. Fans can catch the action live on CBS at 8 p.m. EDT / 5 p.m. PDT, or stream it via Paramount+ in the U.S.
And for those who want to witness the magic in person? Tickets are still available on Ticketmaster — but they may not last long.
No Pain, No Glamour
In true superstar fashion, Jennifer Lopez isn’t letting bumps, bruises, or stitches slow her down.
She’s dancing, smiling, and rehearsing harder than ever — because when J.Lo hits the stage, she brings nothing less than her absolute best.
