JD Vance suffers embarrassing four putt meltdown at Donald Trump’s Turnberry golf course in Scotland

JD Vance’s much-talked-about holiday in the UK has taken yet another turn — and this time, it’s not about politics.

Instead, the U.S. Vice President found himself trending online for all the wrong reasons after an awkward golfing moment at Donald Trump’s famous Turnberry course in Scotland.

Just days after frustrating locals in the Cotswolds with his high-security entourage, Vance headed north to Ayrshire.

But instead of a relaxing round of golf, he ended up with a viral clip that might have his golf-loving boss questioning whether to keep him in the next four-man lineup.

Four Putts and a Lot of Frustration

The Ohio-born politician was spotted struggling through his round, battling a tricky bunker shot before things got even worse on the green.

What should have been a quick two-putt spiraled into an agonising four attempts to sink the ball — a performance any golfer would want to forget.

Three putts is already considered a poor showing for most amateurs, so Vance’s four was, to put it mildly, a disaster.

Clearly frustrated, he threw his arms in the air after yet another miss, unable to hide his irritation.

The Internet Doesn’t Hold Back

Social media users wasted no time roasting the VP’s golfing woes. One blunt commentator on X described it as “absolutely fing dogs putting technique,” while another quipped, “He plays golf the way he plays politician: incompetent.”

For context, Donald Trump reportedly plays off a handicap of 2.8. Let’s just say, whatever Vance’s handicap is, it’s probably not in that league.

Luxury Scottish Stay — With a Side of Protests

Vance’s trip to Scotland isn’t all golf and leisure. He’s staying at the lavish Carnell Estates in Ayrshire, a sprawling property with a 14th-century tower, a stately mansion, and more than 2,000 acres of parkland.

It’s a place that has previously hosted VIP guests like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

The VP, along with his wife and children, touched down at Prestwick Airport on Air Force Two before travelling to the estate in a motorcade.

But his arrival was met with a wave of protestors gathered outside the gates, waving Palestinian flags and holding placards.

Tight Security and Planned Demonstrations

Police Scotland is bracing for more demonstrations during Vance’s stay.

Airspace restrictions are in place until Sunday, and a major security operation is underway to manage the protests.

The Scottish Government confirmed they’ve been working closely with UK authorities to prepare for the visit, saying they’re committed to minimising disruption while handling the political sensitivities of hosting the U.S. Vice President.

From Cotswolds Complaints to Scottish Scrutiny

Before heading to Scotland, Vance had been holidaying in the Cotswolds, where his security convoy reportedly irritated locals.

Narrow village roads were often blocked, and disabled parking spaces were taken over by official vehicles, leading to frustration among residents.

Vance, who often refers to himself as a “Scots-Irish hillbilly at heart,” now finds his trip defined by two things: political protests and a golf blunder that refuses to disappear from the internet.

Following in Trump’s Footsteps

His visit comes not long after President Trump’s own Scottish getaway, during which Trump split his time between Turnberry and his Menie Estate in Aberdeenshire, while also meeting political leaders.

Whether Vance will manage to end his trip on a smoother note remains to be seen — but for now, that four-putt is likely to remain the most memorable swing of his UK summer.
