It’s not uncommon for retired footballers to share reflections or strong opinions—but when Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez recently took to Instagram, his remarks went far beyond personal musings.

The former Manchester United striker launched into a series of rants that have left fans stunned and social media ablaze.

From Football Fame to Fierce Criticism

Once celebrated at Old Trafford, where he helped Manchester United clinch two Premier League titles, Chicharito is now grabbing headlines for very different reasons.

The 37-year-old, who also played for Real Madrid, West Ham, Bayer Leverkusen, and LA Galaxy, is now back with his boyhood club Guadalajara.

But with injuries limiting his playing time, it seems he’s been focusing his energy elsewhere—mainly, posting his views online.

Chicharito Claims Women Are “Eradicating Masculinity”

In a string of Instagram videos, Hernandez accused women of destroying masculinity and said they’re making society “hypersensitive.”

He went on to suggest that women should return to what he believes are traditional roles—emphasizing tasks like “multiplying, cleaning, and maintaining the home.”

“You are failing,” he said in one video, addressing women directly. “You are eradicating masculinity.

Embrace your feminine energy… which is the most precious place for us men.”

He added that women should “allow themselves to be led by a man” who simply wants to make them happy.

Criticism Comes Fast From Fans Online

The backlash online was swift and strong. One user wrote, “Come on, Javier, it’s sad to see you like this, please stop.”

Another said, “This video really makes you look crazy.

Just to think that honouring the woman is reducing her to taking care of the house.”

For many, Hernandez’s tone felt not just outdated, but offensive—especially given how passionately he framed traditional gender roles as a kind of moral or spiritual obligation.

He Didn’t Stop There

And if that wasn’t enough, the day before, Hernandez had already stirred controversy with another video.

In it, he mocked women who expect men to be providers but reject housework as oppression.

“So, you want a man who provides, but for you, cleaning is patriarchal oppression? Interesting,” he said.

The video came with a caption reading, “Home is not patriarchy, it’s your temple.”

A Glimpse Into His Personal Life and Struggles

Hernandez’s comments come on the heels of a tough personal journey.

He split from his model wife Sarah Kohan in 2021 and has spoken openly about the emotional fallout.

“I wasn’t the best partner I needed to be,” he admitted in an earlier interview. “I wasn’t the greatest dad… or the great human being I wanted to be.”

He also revealed that not being able to regularly see his children had taken a heavy toll, prompting what he described as a deep spiritual and philosophical awakening.

“I didn’t care what people thought about me,” he explained, saying the end of the marriage forced him to reevaluate everything.

He Points the Finger at Men Too—Sort Of

To be fair, Chicharito didn’t only take aim at women.

He also pointed out what he sees as male shortcomings, saying men are “failing” due to lack of commitment, broken promises, and not prioritizing self-discipline.

But again, his broader message returned to the idea that masculinity is under threat—and that women need to “honour masculinity” for balance to be restored.

A Career Overshadowed by Controversy

While Hernandez managed to score twice and notch one assist across 22 club appearances last season, his recent headlines have little to do with football.

His critics argue that the former star is using social media as a platform to push dated and harmful ideas about gender.

Fans Left Disappointed and Divided

For a player once adored by fans across the globe, it’s been a jarring shift.

The man once known for his quick feet and charming smile on the pitch is now facing public scorn for his divisive views.

Whether these rants are a cry for attention, part of a personal transformation, or something else entirely, one thing is clear—Chicharito’s Instagram sermons are leaving a lasting impression, and not in the way he might have hoped.
