Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo Reveal How Fate Helped Them Secure Their Dream London Home After Years of Searching

After four years of searching and a 14-month renovation, Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo have revealed the story behind finding their perfect London property.

The former Made In Chelsea stars, who are expecting their first child, recently opened the doors to their stunning home, reportedly worth £12 million, and shared the twist of fate that led them there.

How Fate Played a Role in Their Home Purchase

In a joint interview with The Standard, the couple explained that their dream home found them in an unexpected way.

An article about their long and frustrating house-hunting journey was spotted by the grandmother of the property’s former owner.

She called her grandson, insisting she had found the ideal buyers — and as luck would have it, Jamie and Sophie booked a viewing on the very same day.

Jamie admitted he was initially hesitant about the house, but Sophie fell in love immediately.

In fact, she jokingly threatened divorce if he didn’t agree to put in an offer. “When we walked in, I was not sure at first.

Sophie turned to me and said, ‘If we do not put an offer in, I am going to divorce you.’ That was the clincher,” he recalled.

A 14-Month Renovation Journey

After securing the property, the couple spent over a year renovating it to perfectly suit their needs.

Jamie shared glimpses of the process on Instagram, showing followers the property before and after the transformation.

The house started empty, with dangling light fixtures, but now boasts a stunning split-level design with an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space.

Jamie humorously captioned the post: “14 months, 10,000 arguments and nearly divorced later, we’ve finally finished.”

A Kitchen Designed to Be the Heart of the Home

The open-plan kitchen is a centerpiece for Sophie, featuring a massive marble island, warm spot lighting, white wooden panelling, and four skylights that flood the space with natural light.

Curved arched door frames and a raised living area create both elegance and subtle separation.

“I always wanted a massive kitchen with a big island. For me, that is the heart of the home,” Sophie explained.

Jamie’s Dream Cinema Room

Jamie’s favorite indulgence, however, is the lavish basement cinema room, complete with a striped carpet, high-end speakers, a bar stocked with Candy Kittens — his own confectionery company — and plenty of cozy seating.

“I grew up obsessed with films. So to have our own cinema, where we can curl up with popcorn — that is the dream,” he said.

Sophie joked that the cinema was a compromise, as Jamie originally wanted a golf simulator in the basement.

From Friendship to Family

The couple’s relationship began as a friendship in 2019 and blossomed into romance, leading to an engagement in 2021 and a lavish wedding in Spain in 2023.

In June, they announced that Sophie was pregnant with their first child, even renaming their popular podcast from Newlyweds to NearlyParents to reflect their journey into parenthood.
