Jake Paul Opens Up About Suffering Broken Jaw and Losing Teeth After Anthony Joshua Knockout in Miami Boxing Match

Jake Paul is finally breaking his silence after a punishing night in Miami last Friday, when Anthony Joshua delivered a knockout that left the YouTuber with a jaw broken in two places.

Speaking with some difficulty, Paul described his injuries with the kind of grim humor fans have come to expect from him.

A Jaw That Feels Like a Baseball

On his brother Logan’s Impaulsive podcast, recorded the day after the fight, Paul opened up about the surgery that followed.

Four titanium plates were inserted to repair his shattered jaw, and he confirmed he lost several teeth in the process.

“It’s like there’s a baseball in there,” Paul said. “Four titanium plates.

It’s literally snapped, bro, completely snapped.”

At times, even just talking proved difficult, but he still managed to reflect on the fight itself.

Facing the Right Hook

Paul recounted the moment Joshua landed the decisive right hook in the sixth round.

“I was like ‘wow, that was nice.’ I was on the ground like ‘that was a good shot.’

He surprised my jaw. I mean, it’s not that hard to get your ass beat.”

Despite the damage, Paul tried to stay positive, noting the lessons he learned and the experience gained in the ring.

He admitted that cardio was a major factor in the outcome.

The mental pressure of facing a heavyweight like Joshua, combined with smaller gloves during sparring, tested him in new ways.

“I was doing good, I just think my cardio, the mental pressure… is different on the 10 ounce gloves.

But it was a great experience, I learned a lot in there.”

Regrets About Preparation

Paul openly acknowledged a key preparation mistake: skipping altitude training.

“I should have gone to altitude training,” he said.

“I wish I had more than three weeks to prepare, to put on more muscle. That was my biggest mistake.

I just needed that extra level of cardio, and that can only come from altitude.”

Despite the Loss, the Love for Boxing Remains

Even with a career-altering injury and a high-profile defeat, Paul says he isn’t walking away from the sport.

“I did have fun. I love this sport, and I love this job.

It doesn’t even feel like a job. This sport has done so much for me,” he reflected.

At 28, he’s already planning a comeback once he’s fully recovered.

A Fight That Captivated the World

The bout attracted a massive global audience, with Netflix reporting 33 million viewers tuned in from around the globe to watch the Miami showdown.

Despite the defeat, Paul’s profile in boxing and entertainment continues to grow, proving that even in loss, he remains a major draw.

Looking Ahead

With recovery underway and lessons learned from the fight, Paul is determined to return stronger.

For fans of the sport and his career, one thing is clear: this isn’t the end of Jake Paul in the ring.
