Jake Paul’s upcoming fight has been confirmed, and it’s not the usual matchups fans have come to expect.

This summer, the YouTube star-turned-boxer will face off against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a cruiserweight fight, according to Mike Coppinger from Ring Magazine.

The match will mark a departure from Paul’s recent controversial fights, such as his 2024 victory over a much older Mike Tyson.

A media partner for the upcoming event has yet to be revealed, but the fight will not be streamed on Netflix.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.’s Career Background

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is the son of the legendary Mexican boxer, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., whose career included a staggering 107 wins in 115 fights.

While Jr. has not quite lived up to his father’s iconic legacy, he was a middleweight titleholder in 2011 and 2012.

Chavez’s record stood at 46-0-1 before a string of defeats in his subsequent fights, including losses to boxing greats like Canelo Alvarez, Sergio Martinez, and Daniel Jacobs.

Notably, he also suffered a surprising defeat to UFC fighter Anderson Silva in 2021, after missing weight for the bout.

Despite his losses, Chavez Jr. returned to the ring in 2024, fighting on the undercard of Jake Paul’s event.

He won that match by unanimous decision, beating the 40-year-old Uriah Hall.

Jake Paul’s Path to His Next Fight

Jake Paul has had a rollercoaster journey in the boxing world, having fought opponents from a variety of backgrounds, including UFC fighters and even former world champions.

His most recent bout was a win over Mike Perry by TKO, which served as a preparation for his fight against Tyson in November 2024.

Since then, Paul’s name has been linked to potential bouts with several prominent fighters, including KSI, Tommy Fury (the only boxer to beat him), and Gervonta Davis.

However, it appeared that a fight with Canelo Alvarez might have been the next big thing for Paul.

In February, it was revealed that Alvarez had signed a four-fight deal with Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Season.

This deal includes a high-profile fight with Terence Crawford in September.

Although the Canelo-Paul fight seemed close to happening, Alvarez will now face William Scull in May instead.

Future Plans for Jake Paul

Paul’s promotional company, Most Valuable Promotions, has shared that they’re actively working on setting up Jake’s next few fights.

According to Nakisa Bidarian, Paul’s partner in MVP, they plan for Jake to fight twice in 2025 and potentially two to three times in 2026.

The company is also preparing for other high-profile events, including the third fight in the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano trilogy, scheduled for July 11 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

As the summer fight against Chavez Jr. approaches, fans are eager to see if Jake Paul can maintain his unbeaten record and prove himself against more seasoned, established fighters in the boxing world.
