It’s been a tough summer for Jadon Sancho at Manchester United.
Since the start of pre-season, the 25-year-old winger has found himself sidelined alongside a handful of teammates, left out of the first-team group and missing the club’s recent US tour.
With just 11 months left on his contract, Sancho’s next move is shaping up to be one of the summer’s most talked-about transfer sagas.
Out of Favor and Off the Pitch
Sancho isn’t alone in being frozen out. Along with Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia, he’s been training separately from the main squad since pre-season began last month.
Marcus Rashford was also part of this group but has since secured a season-long loan move to Barcelona, leaving Sancho as one of the key players still in limbo at Old Trafford.
Talks with Dortmund and Juventus Haven’t Taken Off
Over the summer, Sancho has held talks with Borussia Dortmund and Juventus about a potential transfer, but nothing concrete has come from those discussions yet.
Dortmund reportedly have some hesitations about bringing him back for a third stint, while Juventus appear to be focused on offloading players before committing to any new signings.
Roma and Besiktas Enter the Picture
Now, two fresh names have emerged in the race for Sancho.
Roma and Besiktas have both reportedly expressed interest in bringing the winger to their clubs.
Football Italia revealed that Roma, under their new manager Gian Piero Gasperini, have been in contact with Manchester United to discuss what it would take to make the move happen.
Gasperini is said to be a fan of Sancho’s style, but it’s still unclear whether Roma will push forward.
Meanwhile, Besiktas could offer Sancho a chance to reunite with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, his former Manchester United boss.
Solskjaer now leads the Turkish club, and Besiktas president Serdal Adali has confirmed their desire to sign Sancho.
Besiktas President Opens Up on Interest
Adali told Turkiye Today, “Just as much as the community wants him, I want him too.”
But he also acknowledged the challenges of convincing Sancho to join a club outside of Champions League competition.
“What matters is not only our desire, but also if the player wants to come to Turkey,” Adali explained.
He went on to say, “Players like Jadon Sancho usually prefer clubs playing in the Champions League.
Whether it happens today or not, it is hard to say. If it is possible, we will get him. Besiktas fans can rest assured.”
Financial and Contract Hurdles Could Complicate a Move
Sancho’s current contract, which pays him around £275,000 a week, poses a big obstacle.
With less than a year left on his deal, Manchester United may consider sending him out on loan again if a permanent transfer proves difficult.
Other Interested Clubs Keep Watch
Aside from Roma and Besiktas, Inter Milan—last season’s Champions League runners-up—are also reportedly interested.
The Italian club sees Sancho as a possible alternative to Ademola Lookman, should negotiations with Atalanta for the forward fall through.
