Jackie Siegel, the star of Queen of Versailles, is grieving the death of her husband, David Allen Siegel, who passed away at the age of 89 over the weekend.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Saturday, Jackie, 59, shared the devastating news with her followers.
“I wanted to personally reach out and let you know that my husband, David Alan Siegel, passed away this morning,” she wrote.
“I was lucky enough to share twenty-five wonderful years with David, and together we raised eight incredible children. His life and legacy live on through them all.”
A Shared Life and Family
Jackie and David’s union began in 2000, and over the years, they built a large family.
They shared children Daniel, Debbie, Drew, David, Jordan, Jacqueline, Jonquil, and Victoria.
Tragically, their daughter Victoria passed away from a drug overdose in 2015, which led Jackie and David to establish a non-profit foundation in her honor.
Jackie expressed her grief over the loss, writing, “To say we are devastated is an understatement,” while finding comfort in knowing their late daughter Victoria would be waiting for her father in the afterlife. “The first thing he heard was ‘Dad,’ followed by a big hug,” she reflected.
She also found solace in knowing David’s son, Steven, from his previous marriage, was there to greet him as well.
Thanking Fans for Their Support
Jackie expressed her deep gratitude to her fans and followers, acknowledging the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
“I know you all loved him too, which is why I wanted to share this with you,” she wrote. “Thank you for your love and support during this difficult time.
It means the world to us.” She ended her message with a reminder to cherish every moment, writing, “Life is a precious gift from God—and my husband has found his peace with Him.
Embrace and cherish every moment—and thank God.”
The Queen of Versailles Legacy
Jackie and her family became famous after the 2012 documentary Queen of Versailles, which chronicled their ambitious attempt to build a grand mansion modeled after the Palace of Versailles.
The saga continued in Queen of Versailles Reigns Again, which revisited their journey a decade later.
In 2024, their story was even adapted into a Broadway musical, with Kristen Chenowith starring as Jackie.
Following the sad news of David’s passing, Chenowith offered her condolences, writing, “Sending all my love.”
David Siegel’s Impressive Legacy
David Siegel was a highly successful entrepreneur, founding Westgate Resorts in 1982 in the Orlando, Florida area.
Over the years, Westgate became the largest privately held timeshare company in the world, with over 13,500 rooms across 22 resorts.
His success extended beyond business as he was also a dedicated Army veteran who donated more than 28,000 complimentary vacations to members of the armed services.
David’s philanthropic spirit was evident in the work of the Victoria’s Voice Foundation, which advocated for extended drug rehabilitation treatment and pushed for the wider availability of Naloxone to combat the opioid crisis.
Jackie and her family now face the challenging task of moving forward, but with the support of their loved ones, they continue to honor David’s life and legacy.
