Jack Grealish might soon be swapping the blue of Manchester City for another Premier League jersey—and it’s not just about football anymore.
With a desire for stability at home and more minutes on the pitch, the 29-year-old England international could be lining up for Everton as part of a possible loan deal.
A Tough Season and a Big Omission
It’s no secret that Grealish’s time at City hasn’t quite gone as planned lately.
Last season was particularly frustrating—he only made seven starts in the Premier League.
And things hit a new low when he was left out of City’s 27-man squad for the Club World Cup last month, a strong signal that his time at the Etihad may be nearing its end.
Manager Pep Guardiola hasn’t exactly closed the door for him—but he did suggest that a fresh start could be the best thing.
In fact, he hinted that returning to the kind of freedom Grealish once enjoyed at Aston Villa might be the key to reigniting his career.
Everton Want Him, and He’s Listening
According to The Independent, Everton are seriously interested in bringing Grealish in on loan as they prepare to step into a new era at the soon-to-open Hill Dickinson Stadium. And the feeling might be mutual.
There’s a practical reason behind Grealish’s openness to the move too—he wants to stay in the north.
Since becoming a dad last September, he’s been keen to build a more stable home life with his longtime partner Sasha Attwood and their daughter.
A move to Everton would allow him to stay put in Cheshire while still playing top-flight football.
A Big Contract, But a Bigger Opportunity
Grealish still has two years left on his massive £300,000-a-week contract with City.
But despite that, a switch to Everton could offer something money can’t buy—consistent minutes and the freedom to be the player he once was.
David Moyes, who’s ready to reshape Everton post-Goodison Park, is reportedly willing to make Grealish the centerpiece of his squad.
He’s prepared to give him the creative license that he hasn’t enjoyed since his £100 million move to City in 2021.
His Numbers and What He Still Offers
Despite the recent dip in game time, Grealish’s contributions to City shouldn’t be overlooked.
He’s notched 17 goals and 23 assists across 157 appearances.
More importantly, he played a major role in City’s famous treble-winning season.
Earlier this month, fans spotted him at an Oasis concert in Manchester, where he was overheard expressing nothing but love for the club and its supporters.
“You know what? I love City more than anything,” he reportedly said.
“And do you know what I love more than anything? City fans. They’re the best fans in the world.”
Pep Guardiola Weighs In on the Future
Speaking about Grealish’s omission from the Club World Cup squad, Guardiola admitted that the decision wasn’t just tactical—it was mutual.
“He had a conversation with the club and they decided it was best,” he said.
He continued, “Jack is an exceptional player. The only reason he didn’t play last season is of course my decisions…
The best thing is to stay behind and find a place where he can come back to being the player he was during the Treble year or his time at Aston Villa.”
Guardiola also reflected on Grealish’s talent and value, saying, “Without him, it would have been more difficult in the year of the Treble.
The fact is, in the last two seasons, he didn’t play many minutes.
He has to come back to play and feel those butterflies again—playing every three days and showing the quality we all know he has.”
