Even football stars aren’t immune to life’s unexpected challenges.
For Jack Grealish and his long-term partner Sasha Attwood, a major update from Cheshire Police has brought disappointment after a high-profile burglary at their Cheshire mansion.
The Boxing Day Break-In
The break-in occurred on Boxing Day 2023 while Grealish was on the field playing for Manchester City against Everton.
At the time, Attwood and ten members of her family were at the couple’s £5.6 million Knutsford home.
According to reports, the burglars struck swiftly, stealing jewellery and watches worth around £1 million.
Attwood raised the alarm, but the thieves had vanished within minutes.
Police Close the Investigation
Cheshire Police recently announced that after a “detailed investigation,” the case has been closed with no suspects identified.
The couple are said to be “devastated” by the outcome, worried the culprits may escape justice.
Shortly after the break-in, Grealish shared his heartbreak on Instagram:
“I can’t begin to explain how devastated I am over the burglary that took place at my home.
My family means the world to me and nothing is more important than ensuring their safety.
This has been a traumatic experience for all of us, I’m just so grateful that nobody was hurt.”
Police have stated that the case could be reopened if new information comes to light.
Turning Back to Football
Despite the distressing ordeal, Grealish has been refocusing on his football career.
This summer, he joined Everton on loan, and made his full debut for the Toffees on Sunday.
His performance was impressive, earning player of the match honors after assisting both goals in a 2-0 win over Brighton at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Grealish reflected on his return to form with beIN Sports, admitting that recent years had dulled his enjoyment of football at times.
“For me, I wanted to come here and the main thing was to enjoy football, you know, enjoy playing every day,” he said.
“I absolutely love football and I want to have that feeling again, when you wake up on a match day and you just can’t wait to get out there. That’s how I felt today.”
He added that his first days at Everton had been welcoming, praising the manager and the team atmosphere, and expressing hope for memorable moments ahead.
Life Off the Pitch
Away from football, Grealish and Attwood share a long-standing relationship.
The couple, both 29, met as teenagers in Solihull and recently celebrated the arrival of their first daughter, Mila.
Attwood has made a name for herself as a successful model and influencer, boasting over 300,000 Instagram followers and sharing glimpses of her travels, fashion, and lifestyle.
The family also recently enjoyed a summer holiday together, soaking up some well-deserved downtime after a challenging year.
