ROME, 1st March, 2022 (WAM/ANSA) — Italy’s GDP rose by 6.

6% in 2021 with respect to the previous year, the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) said on Tuesday.

The national statistics agency said that:”The Italian economy registered growth of exceptional intensity due to the strong recovery of productive activity after a 2020
characterized by the effects of the health emergency.

It said domestic demand was the driving force of the increase.

Italy’s GDP dropped by 8.

9% in 2020.

The agency said Italy’s public deficit fell from 9.

6% in 2020 to 7.

2% last year.

ISTAT said the debt-to-GDP ratio dropped to 150.

4% in 2021 from 155.

3% the previous year.
