It’s not every day you see a 22-year-old model with Icelandic music royalty in her DNA leading a major fashion show.
But that’s exactly what happened when Isadora Bjarkardottir Barney—daughter of Björk and artist Matthew Barney—opened Cecilie Bahnsen’s 10th anniversary runway during Copenhagen Fashion Week.
The young model brought a dreamy, ethereal vibe as she took to the runway wearing a delicate white dress, featuring sheer fabric, ribbon straps, and subtle floral embellishments.
She paired the look with white sneakers for a grounded, modern twist, and let her brunette waves fall naturally to her shoulders.
A Moody Show in a Parking Lot, Fog and All
The runway location? An abandoned parking lot, transformed with atmospheric fog machines that added a cinematic touch.
Isadora led a lineup of models showcasing Cecilie Bahnsen’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection, which paid tribute to the brand’s journey.
Speaking about the event, Cecilie said, “There’s something special about showing in Copenhagen.
It’s where everything began. Many in the audience have been with us since the start, so it feels intimate and emotional.”
She added that they included archive pieces in the show, worn by guests to make the experience more immersive and heartfelt.
Modeling Roots and Famous Company
Isadora officially stepped into the modeling world in 2022, when she appeared in a Miu Miu jewelry campaign alongside stars like Sydney Sweeney and Emily Ratajkowski.
Later that year, she made her runway debut with Miu Miu during Paris Fashion Week, further proving she’s not just a one-time muse.
Despite the buzz around her famous lineage, Isadora has been vocal about the misconceptions surrounding nepotism.
In fact, she’s pushed back on the idea that her parents’ names have automatically cleared a path for her.
Nepo Baby? Isadora Says It’s Not That Simple
Studying performance at Central Saint Martins in London, Isadora is fully immersed in her craft—and she’s refreshingly candid about the challenges that come with having well-known parents.
“I have the benefit of their support, which is amazing,” she explained.
“But nepotism, while it can open doors financially, doesn’t necessarily help with discovering your own voice as an artist.”
She described how navigating preconceived ideas about her family background can be difficult, saying people often make assumptions based on what they think they know.
Still, she’s learned how to distinguish between outside perceptions and her own reality.
Taking the Lead in a Powerful New Film
Now, Isadora is stepping into her biggest acting role yet—starring as the lead in the upcoming drama The Mountain.
She plays Anna, a teenage musician struggling with grief after her mother’s sudden death, while also dealing with a strained relationship with her father and the weight of early pregnancy.
What’s more, Isadora contributed to the film’s music—blending her talents as both actor and artist.
The opportunity came somewhat unexpectedly when a former crew member from a past TV project remembered her and invited her to audition.
“It felt like a dream,” she said. “It kind of came out of nowhere—it was wild.”
Finding Her Voice on Set
While The Mountain is her first time leading a film, it’s not Isadora’s first screen appearance.
She had a small part in the 2022 movie The Northman, where she played a singing Viking slave—sharing the screen with her mother Björk, Alexander Skarsgård, and Nicole Kidman.
But this new role has allowed her to stretch herself as a performer.
“At first, I was kind of shy, just nodding and going along,” she admitted.
“But eventually, I started taking up more space and really collaborating. It was such a formative experience.”
Embracing Complexity Through Art
What drew her to the character of Anna was the emotional depth.
“She’s at so many crossroads—grief, adulthood, motherhood, loss, being a daughter in a new way, and becoming an artist,” Isadora reflected.
“It’s a lot of firsts unfolding all at once.”
For her, art is a personal exploration. While her parents provide invaluable advice and creative insight, she’s determined to forge her own path. “There’s no pre-written script for a creative life,” she said.
“Even when you’re making the right move, it doesn’t always feel that way—and that’s actually comforting.”
A Bright Future Beyond Famous Footsteps
Isadora’s journey might have begun with two iconic parents, but her path forward is clearly her own.
Whether it’s gliding down runways in foggy parking lots or digging into emotionally rich film roles, she’s proving that talent, honesty, and hard work speak louder than any surname.
As she continues to balance fashion, film, and music, one thing’s for sure—Isadora isn’t just following in anyone’s footsteps. She’s leaving her own.
