INEC To Engage 50,000 Ad- hoc Staff , Security Personnel For Anambra Governorship Election

Fifty thousand ad-hoc staff and security personnel have been engaged to work in the November sixth governorship election in Anambra State.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Anambra State, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji, disclosed this in Awka, while speaking at an event organized by the National Broadcasting Commission, for broadcast stations in Anambra State.

Dr Orji who said that while twenty-six thousand ad-hoc staff is needed to conduct the election, twenty-four thousand security personnel will also be needed to ensure a violent-free exercise.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Anambra State also said thatIndependent National Electoral Commission will also be bringing in new innovations into the election, including the introduction of a Bimordial Voter Accreditation System, which would be replacing the smart card reader, and polling unit reorganization.

Dr Orji who stated that elections are capital intensive in Nigeria, disclosed that the Independent National Electoral Commission will need about two billion naira to conduct the Anambra governorship election.
