INEC has declared the result of the bye elections inconclusive in Zamfara State. INEC said the results from 14 polling units were cancelled due to over voting and violence.
The INEC returning officer of the Bakura state House of Assembly by-election in Zamfara State, Prof. Ibrahim Magawata said after the collation of the result of the votes cast, the two major contenders, APC and PDP scored 16,464 and 18,645 respectively.
However, some polling units scored zero due to ballot box snatching, violence, assault on INEC officials and burning of election materials by thugs. The violence affected about 14 polling units, where about 11, 000 votes were interrupted, thereby rendering the total results inconclusive.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) previously reports that tension was high in Bakura days to the election leading to the deployment of more security personnel.
INEC is expected to announce the next line of action soon.
