we will advice all unilorin applicants to take note of the above messages
Now coming to the reason we are writing this articles. as an organization who is more into University of Ilorin Admission undertakings, we are going to show you some ideal aspect of people that ought to at this point have alternative options in light of the fact that in all actuality they won’t get admission into the University of Ilorin following the system of Admission that has since been a practice in the University of Ilorin.
(1) Those who do not have five relevant subjects:If your five relevant subjects for the given course you have chosen is not contained on your Post-Utme print out, then you have an issue which indicates you are not qualified for the given course that you choose, either as your first choice or by change of course. Lots of candidates in previous years wer not offered admission because of incomplete five o’level result
(2) Those who did not upload thier o’level result on both JAMB and School Portal dvisably, if by now you have not confirmed that your O’level result was successfully uploaded on JAMB Portal kindly double check again If not uploaded then you can re-upload and also make sure your olevel is uploaded rightly on school portal once the school activate her portal for post utme registration. Some years ago , we got a complaint from a student who confirmed that he/she re-uploaded on Unilorin portal, only to be seeing A/R (awaiting result) after the closure of portal.Unfortunately, it was later discovered that she had taken her result to the Cafe for upload and the person confirmed it uploaded but was not uploaded, the student only got to realize when it was late.It is very important to confirm that your O’level result got uploaded on both JAMB and school portal. If you happen to be in this category it will be wise to find an alternative option for Admission.
(3) A’level candidates having below 5 points. If you are using either IJMB or JUPEB the minimum cut off mark is 6 points, if you are well connected the minimum cut off mark is 5 point. A lot of candidates are in the category of those hoping to secure Admission into the University of Ilorin with a 5 point Jupeb result especially when the result was not obtained directly in the University of Ilorin. If you are in this category, you need to be informed that many of those with 10 points, 13 points and some with 14 points candidates will not be admitted, so it is a matter of who you known and who know you. If you have chosen a competitive course you have actually made things worse oh, the system is crazy I must tell you.A word Is enough for the wise.
(4) By not having high percentage in post Utme: see, As a student applying for admission into the University of Ilorin, the most competitive University in Nigeria, it is important that you know what you are up against.University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has been the most competitive institution in Nigeria for over a decade and this may not be changing soon. To back this fact, statistics recently released by JAMB showed that 108,917 students applied to the institution in 2019. Unfortunately, only 11,616 applicants were offered admission into the institution.
Well, as we all know, some were not offered admission into the ourse they originally intended to study.
Meanwhile, the approved admission quota (Maximum number of students to be offered admission per session) for UNILORIN is 12,227.
Even at that, the quota (12,227) is only about 12% of the total number of students (108,917) that applied.
ee? This means about 97,301 UNILORIN applicants were not offered admission in 2019.
Now let’s me take you back to 2020 UNILORIN jamb statistics.
The statistics released by JAMB shows that 103,882 candidates chose UNILORIN as their first choice last year. However, recall that the approved admission quota for UNILORIN is 12,227 students per session. Nevertheless, if 12,227 candidates are offered admission, 91,655 candidates will still have to look elsewhere.
Coming to this year that you applied, from a speech made by the vice chancellor of unlorin “He said about 102,000 picked unilorin this year and the institution is not going to admit less than 13,000 applicant. so by now you should have double your hustle. Lol!!
Other institutions, in addition to meeting the JAMB cut-off, conduct Post UTME for their applicants to determine their admission. or most schools, Direct Entry candidates are not subject to another examination. Unfortunately, that’s not the case with UNILORIN.
Be it UTME or DE, UNILORIN mandates every applicant to participate in their Post UTME examination.
This is usually where many fall short and lose their chances of gaining admission. You should understand that the fact that you passed JAMB and meet the cut-off mark doesn’t guarantee your admission to UNILORIN.
Even if you score 400/400 in UTME and you don’t pass UNILORIN Post UTME with a minimum of 50%, you will not be considered for Admission. So as you get high mark in utme and also meet the minimum cut off mark For your course try to also get high mark I mean very high mark in your post utme the truth is unilorin consider her post utme than utme you understand right!!?
Are you qualified or not? If you’re, thumb up! If you’re not DON’T panic. You can still consider a change of course. You can change your course to the course you’re qualified for during the post UTME registration (on the school portal). They allow it.
It is equally possible to do the change on school portal but I prefer doing that on UNILORIN portal during post UTME registration. You can then later do the change of course on the JAMB portal if need be and at a later date.
This is because the change of course on UNILORIN portal will close along with post-UTME registration, but JAMB change of course (for now) remains open for all time. Then, you can save your money for JAMB change of course if you don’t eventually do well in the post UTME test. If you do well, you can then do JAMB change of course, to match things with the one you chose on the school portal.
Fast forward to when unilorin will commences her admission placement. Remember you are in a Federal University, this is not Kwasu, eksu or this is not AAU. Even a professor is not sure his or candidate will enter. Remember that this Admission list over 50, 000 students are waiting for, they will admit from Governors, Commissioner, Permanent secretary candidate, then the Oba and all those strong people candidate, and that would amount to like two thousand people, then the rest have to battle for space, Professors, Dean, H.O.D, they all have candidates, so an ordinary man, Hmmm you can tell for urself, e go tough. Why it is important to have Plan B even while being sure of your Admission.
Inability to secure Admission is not your personal error, most error that leads to not securing Admission is caused by too much candidates and such error the school decides to use as a disqualification to reduce the number of people struggling for admission.
Always remember that the people on line are quite much. It is therefore a challenging situation and in exception of those that will be granted admission on connection, you might be left with a slimmer chance, nevertheless a wise student should always have back up plans. When you are admitted you proceed with the Admission but if anything turns out differently, you still won’t be left behind.
For aspirants that that don’t score up to 180 in utme score we will advice you not to put mind for Unilorin admission because there’s no how you will be admitted even if you know the VC you will not still be admitted you must score 180 and above.
I don’t have 180 in jamb does that means have been opt out for this year admission??
No!!! You have not been opted out you still have alternative There are a few universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education that will draw cut-off marks for their aspirants. These candidates might be left open to nothing if they consider other universities. But these sets of institutions will still drop them to similar courses in case they fail to meet up with the drawn cut-off marks. For example, a candidate seeking admission into medicine and surgery has 78% in post UTME. But the university Pharmacy cut off mark is 80%. The university may then drop him/her to another course with a less cut-off mark such as pharmacology, Anatomy, Physiology, microbiology etc. These schools are not common really but we still have them around. Hence, this post is a product of my personal experience and research. don’t waste your jamb this year when you can still be admitted into state university or polytechnic also if you have 180 and above you can still choose university of ilorin you will just change your course to less competitive course like education course and the likes. this is just an idea. You should have an alternative option for Admission to ensure your request for Admission is granted one way or the other.
