The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is inviting young professionals from its member countries to join their Internship Program, which aims to foster regional economic integration and joint efforts toward peace, security, and prosperity.

About IGAD and the Internship Opportunity
IGAD is a Regional Economic Community (REC) composed of Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda.
The organization works toward fostering regional economic integration and achieving shared goals of peace, security, and prosperity among its member states.
Through this internship, IGAD is offering a platform for 14 talented young professionals—two from each member country—to contribute their innovative ideas and perspectives while developing professionally.
The goal is to support the promotion of gender equality in different sectors, making it an ideal opportunity for those passionate about social change and equality.
Internship Details and Responsibilities
The internship positions will be based in the IGAD offices located in each intern’s home country.
Interns will be assigned to specific IGAD divisions based on their educational background, where they will undergo on-the-job training and gain valuable work experience.
Interns will also have the opportunity to contribute to projects aimed at enhancing gender equality within their assigned sectors, giving them practical insight into how regional organizations can address pressing social issues.
Who Should Apply?
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or enrollment in a graduate (master’s) program with plans to return to school after completing the internship.

Work Experience: Applicants should have less than two years of professional experience after completing their second degree (master’s).

Nationality: Applicants must be nationals of IGAD Member States.

Languages: Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of French is a plus.

Age: Applicants should be between 21 and 27 years old at the start of the internship.

Skills: Candidates should be adaptable to an international, multicultural environment, possess good communication skills, and be proficient in basic computer programs.
What About Compensation?
Unfortunately, there is no financial remuneration for this internship.
However, the program offers invaluable learning experiences and the chance to contribute to important regional initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality.
